 Topkon (excerpt)
This is an excerpt from the prelude of a book that I have been working on for many years. I can not say constantly as I have done very little with it in the past 8-10 years. Yes, is has been that long. This is the uneditied version. I had a very dear friend read and edit the first couple chapters, but will hold that edited version until a later date!

Thanks and hope you enjoy the read. Comments very much welcome....

(Prelude)
Topkon (LOST)

*

Standing in her quarters, gazing over the saddened land, Manda Zola pondered the events of her life. She thought of the events that had brought her to this dreary land that is known as Saldara. More than this, Manda thought of the one true love that had been lost to her. One hundred and fifty years had passed since Manda had last seen Naren, the Holy Knight that had quested to fulfill the prophecy of restoring Topkon to the world.

In the year of the Fallen Gods there was a fighter known as Tie Mont Clair. In his many battles Lord Mont Clair had journeyed many worlds, in many times, lived through many battles. Tie Mont Clair became renowned for his prowess in battle, he became legend that children dreamt of becoming, he became loved by many, hated by others, but most of all Tie Mont Clair became tired. Married to battle for over 500 years the Danaen fighter longed to be free of the clash of arms, to let his body rest and to let both the physical as well as the mental damage be healed before the eternal rest took him. At this time Lord Mont Clair dreamt images of an arena, a battlefield, but beyond that he thought of a challenge that would test every aspect of a warrior, Tapper, Holy Man, Stalker or Mentalist. The first images of Topkon came to Lord Mont Clair.

Manda believed that Lord Mont Clair never knew the full ramifications of the dream that he held so dear. But as he was ambitious in his younger days, Tie Mont Clair became ambitious to fulfill this dream. In his many battles and vast adventures, Mont Clair met a young woman. This woman held fantastic beauty, this woman held fantastic power, most of all this woman held Tie Mont Clair’s heart. He knew that Zavina held power, but he did not know that she was kin to the very gods above, (and below!) It was through Zavina that Topkon was created.

In her thoughts Manda Zola unconsciously brushed the knee length golden blond hair and readjusted the white silk scarf that covered her eyes. She slipped into the thin almost see through silks that covered her body in white. Her delicate body and lush beauty flowed through the room and her mind wandered farther into the past that would soon come crashing back down on her. Manda Zola’s past would not only crash down upon her. All of Saldara would feel the wrath of the gods, the Gods that had fallen from this world eons ago. (To Be Continued...)

LOVE "sword and Sorcery" as a genre-my introduction to Sci-Fi was a series called "the world of Terra" by Phillip Jose' Farmer- still a favorite- Cordwainer Smiths's incredible stories- Fafrd and Grey Mouser- Narnia - MIddle Earth- this has potential- on a rainy day (and in seattle in the winter ain't nothing but) hope you'll pursue it...

Thanks for the comments guys. I guess my block in completing this work is that I do not want to repeat the same story spun by every fantasy author before me, but rather do something totally different, but fear I have written down that path that has been tread so many times before.

I will post the complete Prelude soon and see what you guys think. It is lengthy. I also need to review the edited version again and see about posting that as a side by side view.

Peace...
