As of last night, this schedule is messing with me a little. I'm guessing it was because I got up "early" yesterday. I didn't have that issue today. I slept until nearly noon. It's a little weird waking up at lunch time. I haven't done this with any regularity since college. I love to sleep, but I hate waking up and half the daylight time being over. My hat goes off to the people who work the graveyard shifts in the world...however do they do it??? Last night I was invited to join my team in the cafeteria for a potluck dinner. Since I obviously can't cook anything since I'm staying in a hotel I ordered a couple of things from this place called Ginger Court. The restaurants here serve three kinds of food mainly...Indian, Thai and Chinese. I got a mixture and as it would turn out the Indian dish I brought someone else had also brought, but their's was homemade. My biggest contribution, or the favorite of what I brought was a mixed bread basket...meaning Indian breads, Naan, chapati, etc. If it hadn't been for me there would have been nothing to scoop the food up with! At the end of dinner there was an Indian sweet...i hate Indian sweets, but I knew I had to try it. I was served two pieces. I ate one to be nice and then they insisted that I eat the other even thought I told them it was too sweet. It was kind of like a sponge cake soaked in sugary syrup. The insisted that I squeeze the syrup out and try again, so I did and I took one bite and told them, nope, still don't like it! I didn't mean to be rude, but I tried it and it's just way to sweet. My experience has been that ALL Indian sweets are far beyond sweet. It was nice socializing with my team in a less formal setting. I think they are finally starting to warm up to me a little. I don't want them totally relaxed around me because I need to be able to get the to do what I need them to do, but I also don't want them to be scared of me. Then a couple of hours after we returned from dinner we celebrated a birthday in my group. The group bought the birthday girl a cake and everyone took turns feeding her...well, not everyone. The cake was not nearly as good as our birthday cakes...in fact I only ate it to be nice. I have to guess that it's because they are limited to the ingredients (no eggs) due to the Veg. folks. Here you are either Veg. or non-veg. Why do Americans get such a bad rap ...Indians seem to like to eat just as much as we do
