| Macros are disabled for this project in Outlook 20 |
|
Ok so today I get into the office and I sit down at my desk only to be greeted by the first email of the day. Turns out that two seperate clients have the same issue going on with there outlook 2007. Upon trying to even open a new window to send an email, or forward an email both clients were receiving a dialouge from Visual basic editor saying
"Macros are disabled for this product please refer to the online guide or help pages about how to enable the macros."
After nearly half an hour of trying all of my known tricks for troubleshooting outlook, I decided to turn to the help of one of the Microsoft SBS MVP's that I have been so graciously equipped with for assistance. Together we decided that it must be soemthing to do with word more than outlook. I then proceeded to use the Microsoft KB to find ways of troubleshooting this error. I proceeded to go through the settings of the workstation and set the macro security to medium thinking maybe outlook or word was actually going through and disabling a macro that was needed.
After my attempt at this step failed, I decided it was time to regroup and see if I could use common sense to put this to rest. After adjusting the settings to medium I decided to kill all Microsoft office applications as well as services and give it a fresh start. Once I did this, a new prompt came up directing me straight to the file path of the troubled macro. Once the macro was isolated I verified that the macro was legitly owned by Adobe (it was the Adobe ConvertToPDF Macro. This was a legit macro so I allowed outlook to trust this item, then reset the security to High. So far this seems to have resolved the issue with both clients. Whew so yeah, that made a very interesting occassion for my first day here running the office and keeping things afloat. Hopefully things will continue to move along smoothly like this.
