| Welcome Home, Ozzy! |
Well, I've been adopted by Ozzy, a two year old Pug who snores loudly and seems to have a bit of a problem with flatullence :)

Yesterday, I was heading home and drove by my local Petsmart and saw a bazillion dogs out in front on leashes. I immediately felt the pull of a wagging tail and wet nose! I parked my car and walked up. Dogs everywhere! All types of dogs with handlers from a local rescue association were stopping to talk to people about possible adoptions or fostering a dog or cat. I pet several dogs, scratched a couple of ears, got a couple of licks on my chin, but there wasn't a dog who really tugged at my heartstrings.
I then went inside the store with the thought of petting the kittens and cats. I had no intention of adopting any animal. Just pet and go home! I rounded the corner towards the cat room and came smack in front of Ozzy and his young handler, Anna!
Love at first sight! It was immediate, total and insane love :) Ozzy came right for me, jumped up on my thigh like we were long lost friends. His posterior shook from side to side, his tongue hung out the side of his mouth and I bent over to hug and pet him. Too cute! I just couldn't stop looking at him! He looks like a young Winston Churchill!
I knew the handler felt it, too. Anna began telling me what she knew about Ozzy and it wasn't much. He had been with the rescue association for about a month and he was two years old. They didn't have any papers on him. But, I wasn't there to adopt a dog!
All types of 'oohs and ahhs' ensued between Ozzy and I and then, other people started coming around. He generated a lot of interest! People were drawn to Ozzy and he 'performed' beautifully. I watched him interract with kids, adults and other dogs of all sizes and he was just a perfectly behaved little clown, a snorting ball of love :)
Finally, I asked to see his file and was told that they just didn't know enough about Ozzy. Was he a problem child, I wondered? Why was he given up for adoption? No one seemed to know and from what I could see, he was a perfectly well-adjusted, good tempered little guy.
An hour later, I was in love and signing the necessary papers for adoption :) Unreal! After I paid for Ozzy, he and I walked around Petsmart shopping for a bed, food and water bowls, a leash and a harness and a nice bed which he immediately jumped into, fluffing up the 'mattress'!
I paid for Ozzy's stuff and we walked outside. I just couldn't believe that I was a dog owner, once again! My two Cocker Spaniels, Sadie and Joe, both died in Brussels four years ago...wow.
Well, Ozzy and I walked to my/our car :). I opened the side door, Ozzy jumped right in and I loaded his gear. We drove the two minutes home and it was clear that he loves car rides! I opened the front door of my house and Ozzy crossed over the threshold - he was home.
I texted both my kids with a quick photo of their new baby brother :) and they were excited! My son is coming over today to meet Ozzy and my daughter will be here tomorrow. They can't wait and I'm excited for them to meet him!
My girlfriend N came over last night and loved him, too. We put Ozzy's bed in my bedroom and that little dog slept all night right next to my bed :)
Now, the early morning wake-up walk is something I've not missed, but Ozzy was quick and I could have jumped back in bed! I did leave this morning to buy coffee and we heard Ozzy bark :/ Well, it is a new house and a new life for both of us.
I think we will be fine :)
Peace and love.
