 Your Favorite Book? Got one?
I have always been a bit of a bookworm right from the time I learnt to read as a youngster…. Lol…. Many moons ago.

Miss 8 has picked up this love of books, and is reading a year ahead of her level.
Master 5 also has a keen interest in books, and has started showing progress in the letter recognition, not just photo’s and pictures.

When a friend at work suggested a few books for me to read, I soaked up his selections. He has a healthy appetite for a good book. And when we discussed favourite authors and books, I was blown away that he knew who David Eddings was.
Do you know who he is??

David Eddings writes adult type fantasy books (no, not that type of fantasy!!!!!).
In my opinion he writes one of the best styles and I have read over 20 of his books. I enjoyed every single one.

Just recently I’ve decided to spend some of my spare time re-reading all the Harry Potter books. Even though said friend recommended his favourite book next.
It is called Magician by Raymond E Feist, which the children bought me for Mothers Day. He claims this is the BEST BOOK he’s ever read.

When asked why, his only response was, because it is brilliant.

I will read it when I can do it justice.

But I have to admit my favourite book of all time (when growing up) was

FANTASTIC Mr FOX

And nowadays I can’t say I have ONE favourite book.

Do you have a favourite book you’d recommend I read?
If yes, what is it? And why is it your favourite?

Appreciate you sharing your thoughts with me,

Easy …. Book worming right now … Out

I have many favorites. I enjoy Tim Winton, Anne Rice, and many more.

However the one that really has stuck in my mind, is by Alice Sebold, The Lovely Bones.

I also love love love books, and have done since I was little too.

I have many favourite books, but I think I will struggle to find one that becomes a part of my life like Shantaram by Gregory David Roberts did when I read it at the end of last year. I get all emotional just thinking about it, and was gutted when I read the last of its 900 and some pages!

Now, I'm not sure if it touched me so much because I read it while I was living in India and working with a slum community (which is one of the areas in the book) but I truly loved it.

It is going to come out as a movie next year with Johnny Depp taking the lead role. However I just do not see how anyone can do justice to such a long, complex and rich story in a couple of hours on the big screen, but we shall see!

I have so many favorites. I could read any Jane Austin over and over. Especially Pride and Prejudice. But recently I read The Other Boleyn girl, I actually read it twice it was so good. And then I saw the movie after the second time, and the book was better.

Recently I read my daughter Coraline by Neil Gaiman. It is spooky and almost scary but not to scary for an eight year old. They are making a movie but I hear from a friend that worked on it that it won't be the same as the book. Tick Tok by John Sladek has always been my favorite book. It's about a homocidal robot that is wiping out humans and you end up chearing for him at the conclusion.

Have you read the Incarnations of Immortality series by Piers Anthony? If you haven't, you really should. I believe there are 8, although the first 5 are the ones part of the original series...he added the other two later. It's very good writing and a very interesting story line.

I am going to reveal some of my 'inner nerd.' I have 4 bookshelves, big ones.. probably 6 feet tall, and 4 feet wide full of book and I have read every single one. I tend to lean toward historical fiction. It is soo hard to pick a favorite.. so, I'll just list a few: most anything by Philipa Gregory, though The Other Boleyn Girl was her best, also most things by Kurt Vonnegut, umm. 'The Birth of Venus' by Sarah Dunant, 'I, Mona Lisa' by Jeanne Kalogridis, 'The Things They Carried' by Tim O'Brien. oh! and 'Coming of Age in Mississippi' by Anne Moody

Just a few of my favs :)

I have lately discovered the works of Barbara Pym. I thoroughly recommend 'Excellent Women' and 'Jane and Prudence'. Classics and beautiful English. Circe - take note as our tastes are similar. If you like beautiful words, then this is for you Easy.

Well I'm a cartoon so I have not had a chance to read anything, hey, wait, can I even read? Shit. My creator, assclown, loves David Sedaris. Now all he needs is to draw me a woman and I will be fine.

I prefer horror when I read. My favorite book is Stephen King's, The Stand. I also enjoyed his book Thinner under the Bachman name. My favorite children's book is Alexander and The Terrible Horrible No Good Very Bad Day. Throughout the book, Alexander exclaims that he thinks he just go to Australia. You might like the book, Easy. :)
