| Mate, everything will be ok. The day you get divorced I propose you throw a massive party, as it will be the start of your new life. Just think, you gained two beautiful kids out of him - that was all he was good for, and you can smile a little smile as his attitude and behaviour is no longer under your roof, that woman will be stuck with him for a very long time. xx |

| SS - thanks, yes I guess it will be ok. My Friend Kaybee suggested I get my belly pierced when the papers arrive... thinking about that .. but will have to do lots of ab-crunches to make sure I can then show it off!! or not! :) |

Well I am not an Aussie legal eagle ....
but...
if all you are worried about is what is what he says and not what he could do to change the agreement(which from all you say is nothing)then save the time and energy and bother.
He could say you are a 20 foot tall blue meanie from the planet Ning Nong, who cares if all is settled?

The best advice I can give you, E2S, is to ask your own lawyer the pros and cons of you attending.
Ask him (or her) if your failure to appear could affect your rights in any way, shape or form. If he (or she) says, "Yes, FOTY could ask for **** if you don't show," then you should be there to make sure all the agreements in place (supposedly) are adopted by the court and made part of any final judgment.
That's advice from a Yankee attorney. :) |

I agree with sean. When I told you what happened to me I had no attorney. I was told I didn't need one. Your attorney is going on your behalf right?!? I would hope so. That might save you. Also if the man is any kind of human seeing her standing there with a rock before he is divorced then I'd like to think he wouldn't allow him anything more than what you've agreed on. I would call the attorney!
Also I feel your pain! I'm sorry life took this hard road for you. In time the sting will fade and you'll maybe find someone or just start over for you and your kids. Heck you've been doing it for a year. Take care of yourself. Don't get too down that can progress quick. Take care of my friend. |

| Sorry, but from where I'm sitting, it seems crazy that you have to work harder to pay Foty a settlement for breaking up your family. Over here you would be allowed to live in the marital home until the children were finished full time education. Unless, of course, you were earning much more than he was. It just seems all wrong - no wonder you get mad when you didn't ask for any of it. |
