| Slipping into my Nurses Uniform
|
|
|
She grabbed the crisp white dress off the hanger. The starch in the cotton resisting the transfer over her head and shoulders sitting stiffly on her breasts. It continued to drop stopping just above her knees. Slowly she drew up the satin stockings over her pointed toes and along her smooth soft calves and thighs. She ignored her usual comfy flat white shoes, and stepped into the red stilettos sitting in the corner.
Slipping on the little white cap she pouted at herself in the mirror. The small Red Cross sat adorning the front of the cap. Delicately she swept up her hair into a loose bun at the back of her neck; wispy bits cascaded down her cheek bones.
OK Kaybee, KP, Mamacita ... I know nurses don't dress like that anymore.... well at least not in public anyway!!!! So I’ll stop here!! Lol
What sparked that??
Well Master 5 was unwell again today.
My only day off for the week, the last full day with my children before school goes back on Monday, and my poor little guy is unwell.
We had grand plans for the day, but obviously they were thrown away. Miss 8 was very disappointed she was looking forward to going to the local indoor play centre (with Kaybee and her munchkins).
I had banking to do, and wanted to do some browsing for my latest gadget desire.
…. Back up, you say… Gadget??
No, not that sort of gadget!!!!
I am of course referring to my obsession with gadgets such as i-Pods, Digital cameras, video cameras, digital diaries, electronic gadgets, watches! Lol.
I have got it in my head that I need a lap top. I’m trying to convince myself that I will do my next assignment sooner if I had a laptop! Of course I have the work laptop, but that has a restriction on visiting of Thoughts.com.
Ok, okay, I hear you giggling here. Yes okay, I also want a laptop so I can check up on you lovely people ….from my couch, not my desk. That of course would be while I was doing my homework. That being a Comprehensive Writing course, done via correspondence. So it kind of fits doesn’t it? No? Well that’s my story and I am sticking to it.
Now where was I, before I got rudely interrupted by thoughts of a new gadget? Oh yer that’s right. Master 5 was unwell today. He woke up good, yelled at me to get out bed and give him breakfast (from the family room) – it was 9:30am!
I got, gave him breakfast and gave Miss 8 breakfast. After only a few mouthfuls he decided he didn’t want to eat anymore. This is not an unusual occurrence. Infact I was actually surprised that he wanted breakfast. Often he won’t eat until lunch time, no matter how much coaxing I do.
Next thing I know, he’s vomiting in the toilet. Then he comes out to me, and tells me he is sick, and could I get the bucket, a towel and some water for him!
“Well sure I can sweetie,“
I think to myself grabbing the white starchy dress off the hanger.
Sorry just kidding.
Master 5 stayed on the couch all day after that. He watched all the Indiana Jones movies (first 3 anyway), dozing more than watching. Occasionally the bug woke him to empty his stomach and he dutifully drank water after each event.
It was like he was having a competition with the bug, to see if he could keep it in.
You see I explain to him (and Miss 8) when they have this occur, that it is a bug in their stomach that is making them be sick. And I tell them that they have to drink water to try to flush it out or drown it. Other parents will appreciate this. When kids are unwell, sometimes that absolute last thing they want to do is drink water, keep their fluids up. So I’ve derived a game to encourage them to do so. Even though they have argued before that it all comes up again. But as I point out it’s so much better than dry-retching.
Kaybee took Miss 8 for a few hours, which was great, because she was soooooo bored. Then after Miss 8 was back, almost like a wand had been waved Master 5 was better!? Requesting Pizza for dinner.
I swear that boy is going to turn into a Pizza one day!
Easy out ..

Easy,
I really enjoy reading your blogs. You're my inspiration for making an effort to write "happy" blogs.
You're such a funny and sincere person.

Well, if you're going to dress like that, I'm sure I can get sick if you'd like to come nurse me.
(Ooops, sorry. Bad Noah. Be a gentleman.)
Sorry Master 5 was sick but it's obvious he's much better. So, bring on the pizza, mom!
