Today on a beautiful sunny day Kaybee and I ventured to a place in our lush green mountainous suburbs to tackle a location called "The Thousand Steps" or "Kokoda walk".
Here is a brief described from a google search I did :-
The Kokoda Walk is a very steep track walk consisting of 1,000 steps. Along the way are plaques depicting the lives of those who fought and died on the Kokoda Trail in Papua New Guinea in World War II. The physical effort required to complete the climb gives walkers a sense of the exhaustion experienced by the Australian soldiers following the trail during the Kokoda campaign in 1942.
Along the way see tree ferns, and manna gum and blackwood towards the top of the hill. This walk is not recommended for those with medical conditions that restrict physical activity.
Anyway so Kaybee and I dropped our children off dutifully and headed down to the Steps. Now some of you may remember when I did this walk with my children. I blogged it and a fellow blogger - Raymond - shouted out that next time we do it, to invite him. So Kaybee did just that, she sent him an email, but it may have been too late notice for Raymond as we never heard back from him.

(picture: last time I did it with my children)
However we thought there may be some chance that he turn up today and join us.
Raymond we did keep a look out for you .. and as we started to relax and unwind I got a little silly ....
... at one point we stopped for a break, the air was a bit hazy and not as clean as you would expect, which made it a little harder to catch your breath at times. Whilst we were having a chat and resting a moment, an elderly man walked up past us, quite fit and healthy looking. I was in mid sentence to Kaybee, noticed the gentleman, and said "RAYMOND"...
Kaybee looked at the grey haired gent and burst out laughing at me, the gent didn't turn around but kept going ... obviously not named Raymond.
We started walking again and were passed by another grey haired older man, once again I said mid sentence "Raymond". It went something like this ..
"So when I dropped the kids at school today I noticed the new grass area ... RAYMOND ... " pause for recognition, no recognition ... "... did you notice the area?"
This went on a few more times before Kaybee started to join me. I know we were being silly , but it amused us and well imagine if one of the men was our very own Thoughts.com Raymond! I even had my camera with me just in case.
We never did find Raymond, but we did notice plenty of MFB Firemen trekking up and back, plenty of mums trekking up and back, and of course Kaybee and I did the 1000 steps.
A great way to start the day, although Kaybee next time ... BREAKFAST! and BRING your WATER BOTTLE!!!!
