Please help .... Teddy needs a name
Today Kaybee and I ventured out of local area to visit a shopping centre far far away.  Where green lights indicate if a car park is empty and available.  Where flashing neon signs tell you how many parking space are available in the immediate area you are in.

Okay enough already I hear you saying.  I met Kaybee at a shopping centre that I visited a lot as a young girl (many moons ago).  I have not been there for over 6 years and like the gremlins water has been added and it's expanded.  It is now huge with many little rabbit warrens to venture down (and get lost in)!

I don't remember being in a shopping centre this big since I visited that one in Toronto which is so multi leveled that I don't think we got to them all.

After my intial awe of the transformation Kaybee and I set out to search for our Teddy bear.
But before we could start we had to refuel with a latte and what else, well of course a NEW YORK Baked Cheese cake.

After we'd indulged in a very anti-hip friendly morning tea we wandered the shops .. and you know what?  WIth all the shops they had there - not one had what we were looking for.  Oh don't get me wrong there were plenty of cute cuddly teddy bears in all colors, black, brown, white, grey, creme, caramel, pink .. but none of them lurred our purchasing desire.

So we did the only thing we knew how - we retreated back to our very own shopping centre where we found several bears which we thought you'd all love.  In fact we picked one and made the mistake (as many women do) of continuing to look at more teddy bears in other shops.

Then it happened!  Just when we'd decided to find the journal for teddy to travel with we found THE BEAR! We found the one we just had to have!!!  Yes we'd already purchased THE BEAR, but like foty we didn't want that "The One" anymore, we wanted this NEWER ONE!

So we returned our original choice and went halves in this one -

Here he is ... UN NAMED with his empty journal ready to go travelling to all you lovely folks.

But HE NEEDS A NAME ... please see my previous blog if you are now inspired with a name for him.

I will in the next few days get him weighed at the post office and measure him, and share those dimensions with you so you can plan your budget around getting Teddy and posting him on.

But First a Name!!!
Please let me know either in these blogs or in the forum thread what you think he should be called.

Also I would love to hear any suggestions or tips you might have thought of when you think of our next adventure of PASSING THE BEAR.

Looks like he will (obviously) start in Australia - but where next??  Any ideas about his journey?

I look forward to hearing from you soon

xx xx

He should go around Australia first, unless people mind sending him overseas at every trip.
I have a Korimco brand bear.... but I misread it as Kormico, which I liked, so I named it Kormico. About a month later I realised it was Korimco.... hehe.

As for a name for this one, I dont know. Ben?

Good luck with choosing a name!

Hey Amy, I'm thinking you may have to have him last in Australia .. say Melbourne - Adelaide (If Long is playing) and then to you in Darwin and then to ???????? I am so geographically challenged!!

But I agree send him around Oz then onto the next country .. we will have to see what those more geographically gifted think.

Another Darwinite wants to be involved too... but then, I go to school with her, so im not sending it to her!... she and I will prolly go halves in his sending hehe.
I don't care where we send it to.

I hope no one steals him! :(

Amy that is perfect - maybe there are one or two from Sydney or QLd or WA that want to join in - they'd better cough up!! Yes GREAT on sharing postage, that's another reason why we need to plan the journey to cut that cost for all .. xx

ps. He better not get stolen - unless it's a publicity stunt!! lol

I would say that after Oz it should tour Europe
Might also be fun if we break up the time it is in the states a few times. Maybe a trip from the US to somewhere else and then back to the US might break up the flow of just seeing the US over and over.
And if someone in the US is going to...let's say Paris and there is someone doing this that is in France then that is how we save postage for at least part of these voyages.

Such an awesome idea.I think the name would depend on if it is a girl or boy.ha ha !
How about AUSSIE GIRL OR BOY? I was born in Sidney and transplanted to the states at an early age.I think Sidney would be an ideal name.Kind of a reminder of his homeland. I Hope he makes it to Florida.

I think we should name him "friend" 'cause well he's going to be going from one of our friends to another, and another, and another and a n o t h e r.....

Don't forget Canada in there. Can't wait to meet him. Little E and Big K will be so pleased. I still vote for Thunky Bunky Boo Bear.
Thunky - Thoughts
Bunky - Bunking with everyone
Boo Bear - because he is so cute and will Boo you into a surprise when he arrives at your doorstep. Love Moxi

How about Ausape T. Bear. AU = for 'OZ' SA for USA and PE for Europe. T. of course that's for Thoughts. I like the idea of starting in OZ then a few places in USA then a few in Europe and back and forth between them. Will it end in Vegas in time for the annual meeting they host? Do we have anyone in Asia so we don't leave them out?

How about something different like Ferdinand, for F.Magellan, world explorer.

If the bear is a boy Bamard or Bamey meaning brave as a bear.

I may think of some more

Here is one more suggestion, what about if instead of having a journal, we have a Thoughts.com account for him. That way we can all share in what and where he has been up to. Instead of the person who has him knows.

I know I would be interested in knowing what the bear has been doing once it has left the shores of Australia

Louisj - please don't lump Canada in with USA...a little peeve of mine and certainly no disrespect for USA (love going there). North America then. LOL. Moxi

I like the thought of "Little Hobo", because it looks like he is gonna be footloose and fancy free in the reign of travelers. What do you think? Keep me posted, thought buddies, but in my mind, I am already hugging "Little Hobo", but only in my mind, so if you have a better idea, I am okay with that, too. A rose by any other name is still a rose, I have heard, and a little travelling teddy bear can be known by any old name, and still be precious.

I think he looks rather ordinary...and I'm not sure what to make of the FOTY reference which just made me groan:P

But, you did fine in choosing a journal:) I like the look of that one, indeed:) Too bad I'm still not convinced to join this escapade:P But, I thought I'd at least read along:P

No worries Moxi. I didn't mean to forgot my Northern neighbor. Both times I have been there I have enjoyed myself. Maybe using letters from counries won't do. Maybe GT Bear for Globe Trotter?

Aww...he looks VERY cute. :)
Funnily enough, I have one just like him.
Ok, I'm wondering about this, but I guess we ALL already know about it.
The teddy is a boy right?
Some of you guys could even make little PJs, or clothes for Teddy. Or a little basball cap. :) He'd look too cute in that!

Yes Bev, I think he needs to be a boy - because boys travel far lighter than us ladies ;)

Oh and someone I was talking to came up w/ a great idea that might replace the badge idea
Ever stop we add a postcard and if/when they get to be too much we take all of them and mail them (as a package)to You and then we start the post card part again and with maybe just one from each country and let them build again.
They would weigh less than the badges and serve the same purpose sort of

And I came up w/ a good name:
Roustabout
Why?
Elvis sang Teddy Bear and this bear will be traveling alot like a Roustabout does
