I have a pet hate, actually I have plenty of them. But one of the things that really gets to me at times is when I lose something. When I say lose something I am referring to an earring that makes up a set, a watch that I treasured, a toy that I've just purchased for my child.
I think it started way back when I was 10 years old. My parents had given me a watch for my birthday, it was my first real watch. And it was special to me, it had a white face with "fancy" black numbers and a gold trim around it.
I still remember the day vividly, we went on a school excursion to a place called Schwerkolt Cottage with my school. I don't know at what point I lost the watch, but I recall going there on the bus from school, and coming home without it. I was shattered about losing that watch, and to this day I still have "issues" about it.
To the point where when I was old enough to drive I visited Schwerkolt Cottage and strolled around it's gardens hoping magically I'd find my treasured watch. . . I did that a few times but never found it.
And now when I drive past it, which is often on my way home, I always look at that place and still wonder if my watch would appear if I went for a walk through.
Maybe that's why I now have no less than 30 watches!!!!
By the way only 5 have working batteries at the moment! |

Why does it always have to be the nice set of earrings missing its mate? I hate that...I am happy to hear I am not the only one with a different watch for everyday...I think you have more working than I do at the moment..darn batteries!

I lost a gold and Jade ring that was given to me by my dad over the side of a boat on the ocean, when ever I go out on the water anymore I always seem to remember that day I watched it go down in the water..

Wayne - the ocean that's a real "Loss", Miss 8 lost her favorite purple sunnies in the surf when she was 4 ... she looks for them each time... although we told her a crab uses them now on the bottom of the ocean!!

Sitting in my drawing room is an old, black and white photograph of me and my mother on holiday in Donegal when I was 9 years old. We are both kneeling on the ground, my mum behind and above me. We are both smiling which is one of the reasons I love it so much. My mum didn't smile that much on camera. The reason we are so happy is that I am wearing my very first watch which has just been bought for me. It was a 'Smith' watch, very basic with large numerals and a brown leather strap. I don't know where it went to but that watch was so special to me then that I have never forgotten the feeling. I hope someday, very soon, that someone special will buy you a watch which will mean they have all the time in the world for you. With love, E
