| FOTY drops the ball again

So today is Master 5's birthday, and FOTY made up some lame excuse why he won't come to his birthday party (says it's the right thing for all concerned if he doesn't come) ....
Instead he offered to take all of us out to dinner, on Master 5's actual birthday (today) and to Master 5's choice.
Master 5 chose to go to the local Taco Bell, Mexican restaurant.
Master 5 loves their pizza.
Miss 8 was also really excited because she loves their Mexican Nuggets & Wedges and I love a good Tortilla.... anyway..
FOTY's just rung .... he's done his back!!!!
It's midday, he did his back yesterday morning ... we were going to dinner at 6:30pm tonight... but..
.... he doesn't want to sit at a restaurant for his sons' birthday - so we have to cancel tonight!
Maybe we can have a pizza at home he offers!
They are going to be sooooo disappointed.
I've been talking up tonight, saying how good it will be for them to go to Mexican with their Dad, to celebrate Master 5's birthday.
They wanted me to go with them, and were even more excited to find out I would be going ...... now they will be disappointed.
I feel like telling him not to come today, so I can take the kids to Mexican by myself.
But I won't do that, I won't deprive my children of seeing their Dad - even in this reduced capacity.
I feel like telling him, it is NOT about him.
Sure I feel sorry for him that he's injured his back....maybe I'm being a bit harsh!?
He does have a "bad" back history - but he is a typical male when sick or injured - you know the world's caved in so he can't do anything! Whereas when I'm sick, when I'm injured I still do things - I still face up to my obligations and responsibilities.
But he mucked up the birthday party last year, I didn't want him to do it again this year.
Now I have to come up with something to make the night special. I am not going to let their Dad ruin Master 5's birthday, it is going to be a great night and once again...
NO THANKS TO HIM
oh and also I'm going to have to now make up for the kids missing out on Mexican. I'm going to have to take them soon, unless he makes up for it on another Tuesday??

I agree with you about men being wimps when they are sick or hurt. This seems like a bit much to me..my husband would have followed through on his promise to his son if he had to stand up the entire time. Maybe a little reminder to FOTY that parents are the first and most important teachers. When you make a promise to a child...you MUST follow through or they do not learn trust. Sorry the plans got mucked up. :(

FOTY is an asshole. didn't know u had them in australia too. they must be worldwide. WATCH OUT LADIES!!!!! i hope master 5 enjoyed his birthday anyways....smile.... k
