 Embargo or 5c fine
Miss 8 went back to school today (Tuesday here),
albeit she is still not 100%, but at least she is now on medication.
Oh didn't I tell you about that??
Well you see Master 5 was sick last week, and after a few days to see if he was getting any better, I decided he was not.  So I made a doctors appointment at the local clinic and took him.

I noticed Miss 8 getting a little off color with a cold,
so I asked the doctor to take a look at her too.
I'm sure they hate it when you do that... 2 for the price of 1 consult.
Master 5 had bronchitis, Miss 8 just a cold..... come back tomorrow if in doubt.

The next day Miss 8 was not better, but the doctor was booked out.  Same happened the next two days.  For once I decided I wouldn't go to another Doctor,
I'd see if she got better over the week-end.
Unfortunately she did not, and we returned to the Doctor yesterday,
verdict Bronchitis.
And the Doctor asks me "So what did I give her last week for it?"
To which I replied "NOTHING."

Anyway so she's now on stronger than normal medicine, and we decided (well I did) that she should go re-join society .. aka school, after having 5 days off.
Oh and the chemist (pharmacy) has new owners and they tried to get me to buy this stuff to counter the medicine ... Medicine = $16 ... other stuff $26!!
Who are they kidding, I know yoghurt will help balance her up.

This morning they are all getting ready, and I ask Miss 8 for her help with something, she does it but really half heartedly.  I explain why she needed to do it properly and I get the "WHATEVER."

Now I don't know about you, but I really do not like the "WHATEVER" response.  Makes me angry.  Especially when you are trying to explain something.  But I let it go.  Next I ask what she wants in her lunch box.  She explains she's not hungry, doesn't want anything.  I counter-explain that I'll just put something in there, just in case.
Her response ... "WHATEVER".

Now I seem to be getting  WHATEVER and FINE alot lately as responses, and today I just got a little tired of it.

So I've put an embargo on them!!  Yep they are now banned in the Easy Home.

From now on if WHATEVER or FINE are used in that tone (haha) 5c will be fined to the offending mouth!

Miss 8 actually liked this idea, and got a little bold and said

"But what if I don't have 5c .. you can't fine me then can you?"

"Ahh yes I can, it will come out of your weekly pocket money!"

"Ohhh," Miss 8 responds surprised I countered her what she thought was a clever counter-plan.

I know I know you are thinking ... Whatever Easy Fine by me... get a real topic! Lol.

Haha thats great!! My mom embargoed the word "mother" from our house growing up. We were never allowed to refer to her as mother. She thought it sounded cold. haha I remember going through my moody teens and my mom used to get so upset with the "whatver" and "fine" Good luck with that Easy :P

Your posts about family times are my favorites. I use the word "whatever" often. Most times when someone has made a decision I don't feel will work and I feel stuck and powerless to suggest another way of doing things. I hope your little ones get over their colds and bronchitis soon. Peace.

Kayb's are you testing me ?? Pushing my buttons!!!??? You will get time in the naughty corner if you are not careful!!! ;)

Michelle - Thank you, it's the attitude that goes with the phrases, and words that get me. If only !! :)

CD - I do too, I must admit. I use it when I don't want to say what I really think because it would be "rude" or inappropriate. I try not to use it around the kids though :)

I have to admit that even at 22 years of age I still use the whatevers and fines when in conflict with my mum, reading that made me realise how frustrating it must be lol, my mum does always say she can't wait for me to have kids of my own so I actually understand what shes saying lol

hmm..Whatever is my least favorite word. I say pick your battles. If this is something that really aggravates you stick with it. However, in my experience if you teach a child how to aggravate you, they will make sure to do it. Letting them know that this gets under your skin..is like handing them a weapon to use against you. They may play your little game now..but I assure you..the "whatevers" and the "fines" are headed your way for sure. I would personally walk away from those words with no acknowledgment whatsoever. Maybe a little talk about those words don't work with me. If you say them, I'll ignore you, then make sure you do it. This would get the response you are looking for. Parenting is the most difficult job ever but it is so rewarding. :D

peace :) shemelts

DeepThinker - Hmmm .. I use them too .. I know ... but I'm now the FINE Police if you use the word FINE or WHATEVER! Lol.

Shemelts - actually we've turned it into a sort of game, Miss 8 said it tonight and she laughed and went and got 5c .. I told her that was a practise. She's not being stubborn about it ... yet :)

KP .... Hmmmm 10c?? or naughty spot? Your choice! lol.... ;)

Fine is what we call the female f-word. "Whatever" means nothing - when the choice or decision is needed and "whatever" is stated, then nothing will happen knowing that is a choice as well. I once gave the kid a choice in movies and she said "whatever" so we watched a blank screen for two hours. That was some good meditation time to the back drop of a screaming kid saying she didn't mean "whatever". She stopped saying that for almost three months, but now she knows that she must decide.

So funny! I used to do that to my mom and she would just say whatever back and it used to make me mad! The fine is a good idea!
