| A Blog about you - Like it? or Not!? |
|
How would you feel if you were being blogged about? Would you be flattered or would you be offended?
I've got this idea in my head, whereby a lady who has been out of the dating game for a long time due to her marriage breakdown - starts to date again (sound like anybody you know?).
The first few dates she has are disastrous. She is ready to give up but decides to blog the events of her dates. Her frustrations are released as she blogs. She starts to see a pattern developing in the men she is attracted to and starts to change her choices.
Her blogs are done anonymously, however the blog site starts to offer a monthly prize for the most popular or well written blogs. You guessed it she wins one the award one month. Part of the prize this month is that her blog is published in a local magazine or newspaper and she is paid.
Her published blog is an instant success, so the paper asks her permission to publish more of her dating experiences. Which isnt getting better until she dates Mr Perfect (in her eyes). Unlike her other dates he has 9 out of 10 things that she loves. It's almost as if he's read her dating blogs and knows what not to do!
She struggles with the dilemha of blogging about Mr Perfect. If she does will the paper accept it. After all its a positive blog - and their readers have been drawn to her disasters. But she decides to go ahead and do it - as she has a deadline to meet or she'll lose her regular column.
The blog is a huge success, until her date reads it - and he realises its about him. Suddenly she's no longer anonymous. He's angry and feels betrayed - she'd put in a few characteristics about him - which although quirky she found cute and endearing. They have a huge disagreement and he walks out.
She decides that she can no longer write about her dates, which gives the newspaper no option but to let her go. Fickle things newspapers. She says she would rather find her true love and happiness than be lonely and employed.
She contacts the man, who finally admits he was only dating her for a bet. He was friends of two of her previous dates, and they were really frustrated at being written about. His aim was to get her to write a good view of men. She is furious at his betrayal, even though he admits that during their 4 dates, he fell for her.
Eventually they figure it out, and starting dating exclusively.
In the meantime the newspaper received so many complaints about her column being withdrawn, they decide to give her, her own column, not on her dating experiences but on Answering Questions from the readers dating dilemas.
SO - what do you think?? Any ideas?? Any hooks you think I should add??
Love your feedback - it would be great.
==================
I ask because I think I've come up with a story idea for my latest assignment - I'm doing a writing by correspondence course, and have had a mental block since my ex- walked out on me. But I guess I can now see the light and thanks to blogging my thoughts here consistently, I think my muse is waking up!
