| Tuesday... Ummm the day after Monday... |
Well my life has been rather full since returning from my trip. So much going on and I am feeling a bit numb to be honest. I have probably written around 12 poems to only get to the end of them and delete them. I am just not feeling a lot of stuff at the moment. I think work has a lot to do with it and there is more I am sure.
I really enjoyed Chicago to the point that I had it in my head when I came back here that I have to find a bigger city to move to where I would have a lot more opportunity. But there is so much that would have to be done if I do that then it would be a long time away before I made any kind of change like that regardless of how much I feel for now that I may need it.
Upon returning from Chicago I get a call from my aunt who also likes to write. She has written one book and is working on a second. And well she informed me that “our” writers group has been formed and we are meeting at 3:30 at the coffee shop. I was like really? “Our” writers group huh… so who all is in our group? She told me it was going to be her and I and a poet she knows from the area. I told her it sounded cool I have not problem with that if nothing else it will help me stay motivated… she said it did not matter… that I was going and that is that, no one argues with the auntie I was informed.
Well after that was settled she talked about starting to do field trips as a group to hit up some of the writing things like what I have been doing maybe going as a group so if it ever splits up we will have it all covered and can’t compare notes later. So it sounded like a great Idea to me… then we looked online and found one… I had actually planned to sign up for it already but I forgot about it in the shuffle of life. So now we are signed up for a conference in Myrtle Beach in October. I hope that after my bike ride in September I will be able to walk haha… If anyone is interested in the writes thing let me know I will forward the link.
But the more we looked we saw they have a contest in 4 categories and you are able to enter into all 4 and top prize for each is 500.00 which would be nice. But the idea is more to have that under your belt. To win something like that would help greatly when you are trying to get published. So I plan on trying to enter all fore… I may post them here first and try and see what you guys think… here are the categories:
Short Fiction Word Limit: 4,000
Novel - First chapter(s) Word Limit: 4,000
Non-fiction Word Limit: 4,000
Poetry Limited to 40 lines
So I will try all the areas and see how it works out… the non fiction may be tough, I am thinking maybe a short story about my Grandfather? I am not sure if that counts I will have to call them and ask.
So I have a few things going on and a few other things I need to address I think this is long enough, but soon I may ask some love life advice… I am not sure yet… I still need a little time to think. We will see…
