Well I am saving for a trip... I hope next year sometime. I would like to go to Hungary. I want to see and explore Budapest, maybe find where my grandparents were born. Before I go there I would like to take a class and learn the language, but this is not a common language so I am not going to be able to find anyone who speaks it let alone a class at a university.
I have seen alot of different places I want to go while I am there, I remember lystening to my grandafther and his friends talk and it was like right out of a movie. Some of the people my fathers side of the family know are kinda on the iffy side lol. Union guys who own a few bussines and who dont take frap from no one. Most of them have pinky rings which I find funny. And when my grandfather passed away his funeral was something out of a movie. The people that were there, and the things that went on were nothing short of spectacular. My grandfather was on the first vessel to reach the beaches at Normandy, to live through that alone is amaizing. But he joined the fight and got into the military as a way to get him and his bride to the states. He had done alot of amaizing things in his life.
*note this is my other grandfather, not the one I blogged about alot. and not the one in the pictures. I was not as close to this one but none the less in awe of the many things he had done*
I remember he used to mushroom hunt... I never could figer it out, how you could tell one from another but her knew which ones you could eat and which ones could kill you. And he made homemade wine, my grandma would get so mad when he would use her stokkings as a way to strain it off lol he would tell her to be quiet... it just makes it sweeter.
but the stories they would tell me of "the old country" made me allways want to go there. I used to think I would go there and people there would look alot like me and I would fit right in untill I opened my mouth lol. but I want to visit some of the shops and eat some of the real food. And I have heard aboutthe Hungarian women.... lol
So someday I would like to take my trip. It's an on going joke here, that someone day I will empty my bank, take my trip, and not come back lol.
And I think to spend a christmas there would be great, to get away from the american comercialism of everything, back to a place where there are stoy toy shops and real baked goods, not buying a cake from walmart. And yes I know I am romatisizing it a bit, and no it will not be like going back in time, and they will still have alot of the issues I have here, but not so much I think. Besides I can still dream. |

it sounds totaly fabulous if you ask me. I have a lot of very boring family, so no cool trip to another country to discover my heritage for me. I will be happy so happy for you though!! You will so have to post a ton of blogs about everything you see and do there!!

i'll have to find someone to go with me!! would suck seeing alot of amaizing things and do it alone. Then again too.... the Girls in Hungary.... humm.....
