| **genetic Makeup* or Crutch?

Well this will hit a nerve or two I am sure, but this is one of my biggest gripes about people in the here and now. We are so busy popping pills to get skinny, popping pills to sleep, popping pills to stay awake, popping pills to be happy.... and 99% of the time.... is their a family history? Or I drink because my mother and or my father drank. Or I am a product of my environment; we are products of our selves.
Now before I go to far let me say that I understand we are formed by what we are taught and we can become a product of our environment.
BUT if this happens stand up and take responsibility for your choices... Do not blame them on genetics, or environment. You are what you make your self. I know this seems harsh, but I have come a dark place, my past is just that, my past. But I will not sit here and make excuses for myself and blame my mom, or my father, or TV, or video games. I am what I am because those are the choices I have made.
I do not say this to pick on anyone, I just say this because I am tired of hearing people say well I smoke because my parents smoked... no that is why you tried it... you made the decision to continue.

I think we need to print "PERSONAL RESPONSIBILTY" on every road sign in the world, every other commercial on TV should make the statement until we eventually burn it into the back of everone's sculls! Yeah, give me a pill for my back hair-my father gave me that! LOL.

I agree with you on this. We choose who we become and what we are. Our childhood only plays a part in what we allow it to. I have not had parents since I was 16, so maybe that's why I feel this way but I agree with you.
