 Vocational rehabilitation
Vocational Rehabilitation and The Center for Independent Living

This is going to be a very important post. Okay supposedly there is a organization set up by the government to help the disabled find jobs and support than with services they need. Three years ago right before I graduated high school because people came to me offering their help, and it sounded good but I was completely wrong. They told me that they could help me find a job and help me with getting equipment that would make my life easier. So I signed up. When they said that they could help me with the job process it wasn't a big factor for me because I had already got myself set up with the job after my graduation. But they explain to me what they could do that will be beneficial to me. They said that when the interview process started for a job that I was after they would deal with me to the interview and explain a section from The Persons with Disabilities Act that says that I would get special opportunities and allowances that a quote unquote regular person wouldn't have to make my work experience more beneficiary for both the employer and me. And I must admit that I was not to happy about this, but I figured what the hell as long as I got the job. But what I was really interested in was what the equipment could be. You see for years I had to use suitcase ramps to to get in and out of my van, and me and my family were really needing any electronic lift system. The kind of system that they use on school buses and other transport vehicles that transport disabled people. So here's what they told us. They said that it would be very easy to get the lift and other equipment that I needed. Yeah right. They gave us a list and all we had to do was fill out that list with three to five things that we wanted and needed. So we did. They told us that it would not take long at all to get the items. The thing that was on the top of the list was the lift. I got it about a year and a half later. And I had to fight for it, I did not have to fight in a ring or a cage but sometimes I thought it would be a lot easier. By the time that it was time for me to actually receive the lift my van was broken down completely and I could not get into the vocational rehab facility. So I was up shit's Creek not only without a paddle boat without a life preserver as well. So I had to get into my mothers car and be droven in their. Now I am 6, 1 and around 200 pounds with scoliosis I felt like a giant train to the into a clown car. Needless to say I sprained my ankle. But I got it. They haven't done anything else for me. I didn't get the crucial house equipment that I needed to live a better life. They didn't help me get a job, as a matter of fact they just about did the opposite of it. And they're still getting money for me to be used on things that I need even though I haven't been up receiving anything. And I'm not the only one. They are doing this to everyone I know that's disabled. And it's not right. But here's the strange part the government isn't doing a thing to stop it. So if you are disabled and if anyone of these organizations say that they will help you up there just baiting you and getting rich off of your misfortune.
