Finely Metallica is back
Finally, Metallica is back with a new album, a new album that fuck'in rocks. Death Magnetic was released September 12, 2008. I bought it 2 a.m. on the 12th. Several years in the making, with legendary producer Rick Rubin, they've really came through in a big way. It sounds like it from the middle to late 80s stuff, and in my opinion that is a very good thing. It definitely fits somewhere in between Master of Puppets, Injustice for All, and the Black album. It was definitely worth the wait. I just don't know how they're going to be able to play the songs live because there really fast and very long, but with that said, I'm sure they'll pull through. I just like to note that Robert's bass playing is phenomenal. As an ex bass player myself, I listen to music with 80 very good ear. And as much as I love Jason 's bass playing, it is safe to say that Jason can't touch Robert's finger picking style. My personal favorite songs on the album are Cyanide and My Apocalypse. The speed of this record is mind-boggling. All in all I'd give it 4 1/2 stars out of five, but it was pretty damn close to five. And I would just like to say that it was a very smart move to move away from the comfortable environment that longtime producer Bob Brock provided.
Go out and buy Death Magnetic.
