Like you I can only speak for myself. What I want from woman is simple.

1.) Honesty; I don’t want some that tells me one thing and turns around and does something else. If I can’t trust you I don’t want you.

2.) Commitment; I work away from home a lot. I don’t have affairs abroad because I’m committed to who I’m with.

3.) A partner not only out in public but also in my bed. I’m in my mid to late 40’s, and regardless what people think it’s hard to find someone who can keep up. I try to make sure my partner is satisfied before I am, I only ask the same in return.

4.) You mentioned vulgar talk; I find it offensive no matter where I’m at. There are ways to talk to a lady with out using vulgarity. Especially in bed.

5.) Allow me to be a gentleman; Let me open the door, allow me to let you enter a room first, take your coat.

6.) Take compliments; Don’t take offense to me telling you how beautiful you are each day. Refer to #1 I won’t say it if I don’t truly believe it.

7.) Treat me as me; Don’t act as though I am the same guys that broke your heart, hit you, or belittled you.

8.) Enjoy good food; I love to cook, understand that the kitchen is not the woman’s domain.

9.) Clutter; I hate clutter, I keep a neat and orderly home and I like it to stay that way.

10.) Solitude; Understand that I don’t like bringing things home from work, however just because I’m not talking about my day, doesn’t mean I don’t want to talk just not about work. Be assured I will discuss my work when I’m ready.

I said it much better...but whateves:) I agree with most all of what you said. I have only one question: what would you do if you actually GOT all of what you wanted on your wish-list?

Refreshing post, DS. I agree with OK, understanding and tact when "correcting" each other. I prefer showing to telling, but with men sometimes actions do not speak louder than words! I also liked daver's 7 & 10, so true.

although, sometimes i wonder how good it is to make a list of what is needed - like a shopping list. i'm sure that relationships arrive in all shapes and sizes. at the same i agree about the self-respect part. as long as those who are involved in a relationship are self-respecting, then they will also be able to show respect to their partner.

Ok, let me break these down...

1)Not every woman wants someone opening doors for them, etc. For most Sagittarian women(not all, Im sure), such things tend to be suffocating and unnecessary. They are just as capable as men and want to be regarded as such. Not some tired old idea of a "lady". If I so choose to open a door for someone, it is out of the kindness of my heart and flip of whim. I don't make a habit or hard rule of any effort I make. Though, I try to stick to a code.

2)I suspect vulgarity is subject to opinion. For me, its use of cuss/swear words and talk about body parts that is not mutually accepted. Men talking about women's asses or boobs...and, likewise, women jesting about men's penises tends to rub me the wrong way. Not to mention the "lazy" usage of "F@@@ing" someone or "get laid".

3)Truth be told, she may want to feel that way...but I do not need to feel like the most handsome guy in the world. Not low self esteem, hun. It's just the odds. And, telling ONE woman out of billions on the planet she is the most beautiful in the world is a bold faced lie. Give a man a chance, he will find better. No, but she can just as well be very beautiful and worthy of his commitment just the same.

4)Devotion? Feasible. Forever love? In this day and age? And, coming from one of the maaaaany divorcees of the world? I have very low hopes for this anymore. No, the only things still guaranteed in life are death, disease and taxes. Forever love is a big mozza ball to pitch, and I dont know any man that shows me he is up to the challenge without it being such a labor...it's like watching a man eat a box of nails. Tough luck, toots:P But, us guys will give it our best shot if we like yaz enough:) Random NY accent.

5)Feel free to be yourself...no guarantees us guys will like you, though:) But, honesty and being natural are more important than a performance. No need to act around me to get along. That's like living on Helium just to talk funny.

6)I thought you had a different outlook on "SEX"....hmm. And, I dont think it was to lose yourself. If you stand by this code, you haven't and won't lose yourself to a physical and emotional ride.

7)Trust...DUH:P But, trust is more about empathy than simply talk. Words can cover and deceive....but the soul and instinct can see past.

8)Don't have to worry about that one with me:P But, just so you know...Im not really crazy about "How was your day, honey?":P

9)Again, no problem there:P We just wont go out much:P ...or pay the bills:P ehhe

10)Always something to work on...

I totally agree with all your wonderful points. Many times, in the area of relationships, I feel what I desire is old fashioned and odd, but I refuse to be disrespected and live with repeated spirit stabbings.
