Tonight in Bible study we got to talking about what we see everyday. Sometimes we get so used to seeing the normal stuff that we really miss what's nearest to us. Sometimes God's working right next to us and we miss it because we're in a hurry or we don't want to look. We got to talking about our "blind spots" or those places in our lives that we don't want to see or prefer to be blind to. Sometimes I feel like God's calling me to something but I'd rather not go or do whatever it is - so I just keep going on acting like I never felt God's leading.
I like to be comfortable, do you? I'd rather stay in my box than have to deal with change or the unknown. I sort of dislike that about myself. I imagine God could use me more if I just trusted a little bit more and stepped out with lots of courage.
Jesus lives in the unknown sometimes. When I focus I can see Jesus all around. Today I saw him in the lady I visited in the hospital who had no clue who I was, but who expressed her desire to be able to go to church and who prayed her heart out before I left. I saw Jesus tonight in the laughter of the people at the study - who were just plain happy to be together. What a joy! I also saw Jesus today when I went to the grocery store and this crazy-looking guy said, "Top of the morning to you." It made me laugh. He sort of reminded me of one of the seven dwarves (though he wasn't a dwarf). He had a long beard and was just as jolly as could be.
I hope to keep my eyes focused on the activity of Jesus around me. This blog certainly helps me do that! So thanks for reading and being a part of this journey.
It might get a little crazy!
