Have you ever noticed how God brings people together? I think we take it for granted that we are in charge of our surroundings and community. Sometimes weird things happen or even bad experiences and all of a sudden a new community is formed. Sometimes God just works through our own decision making to bring folks together - to accomplish what? I'm not always sure, but I'm certain that God does work through our inter-connectedness as human beings.
Today I experienced this idea repeatedly. We had our study on prayer this morning and today's focus was on songs as prayer. We were each asked to bring in a song that spoke to us (or for us to God.) Though we are all decidedly Christian folks we each brought a very different piece of prayer music. It was really amazing how big Christ became as we listened and chatted about our choice of songs and how we were affected by the songs we heard. You should try it - think about the songs that run through your mind when you're facing a trial. Maybe there are some hymns that are a part of your DNA and you can sing or recite them whenever you need to. Maybe there's a song on the radio or something that lifts you up or opens your perspective. These things become living prayer for us! Cool, huh!
I also experienced the wonderful love of Christ tonight when I was invited to spend some time with the couple who is babysitting my dog for a few days. Not only are they watching Couper, but they even fed me. What a blessing! It's funny how your dog can become so important to you - so much so that you hate to leave him. But I'm thankful for dog-sitters who are ok with dogs being our babies and treating them as though they're important! Again this is evidence to me of God's hand at work in our lives - crossing our paths and bringing us together.
Tomorrow is the big day - the day of interviews. I'm surprisingly not nervous (yet). I decided as I was preparing tonight that I have one goal - not to pass, but to give God glory and praise for what God has done (in, through, around, despite) me. If I hope to glorify God no question can be too hard and there's no reason to be nervous, right?!?
Have a great Wednesday night.
