| Jesus lives in sermons we don't want to hear.

I am a "preacher" and I love to preach. I could preach to you just about anytime and sometimes I slip into preacher mode accidentally when I'm excited or passionate about something. Most the time people are kind enough to just let me preach at them, sometimes they roll their eyes, sometimes they just tell me to knock it off.
Today I got preached to. I have these big interviews on Thursday. It's my final step towards ordination if I pass. If I don't pass there are two options. I could be told "no" which means "go away - you're never going to be a pastor." More likely I could be told to "wait" and come back in a couple years having re-written everything and done it all over. Somehow the people on this board think that "wait" is some kind of friendly idea and that it is really a very good thing to be told. My idea about that is "YEAH RIGHT". But I hear that nearly 70% of the people get told to wait every year. So I'm keeping an open mind about the whole thing.
One of the board members called me and began to tell me how God lives in the "wait" and that God might be using this time for some sort of spiritual formation. I'm a pastor too...I would have said the same thing to somebody else...but when I hear it I want to both roll my eyes and throw up all at once. I wonder how many times I've given somebody some heartfelt advice only to have them feel like throwing up or rolling there eyes at me.
Jesus lived in those words - words that I needed to hear but hope I don't have to. Jesus is bigger than I can even imagine and I'm so thankful for that - Jesus is bigger than this process and bigger than the Church. I just hope I can spread a little Jesus to somebody else.
Hope you had a good Monday!

Yo, this is not a funny blog . . . I'd build you up not send 'fear' into the soul. If they were to ask your flock it would be do not wait . . . YES! We all have to prepare for the worst, but do not think that way . . . You must remain positive and believe that your already qualified . . . don't prepare for anything less! W

OH... it's always tough when you have to "wait". God's timing is very important and it's not the same timing we have.
Bless you Devon
