| Jesus DOES live at Church...

I have to admit that I'm a worship freak - I love it. I love the parts where we sing together, I love the Spirit-filled energy in the people worshipping, I love praying together, I love to preach, I love to watch little kids worship with their parents and older people find companionship even if it only be for this hour on Sunday.
Today I had the joy of preaching on the woman at the well Scripture (John 4). This Scripture is probably my absolute favorite becauase it really talks about humanity and our inability to just be really honest and open with each other. I have come to realize that this might just be the biggest problem we face as Americans - we just live our lives without really being alive to the minutes as they pass us by. We're sort of like robots a lot of the time - just going through the motions. Once in a while we get these eternal glimpses of grace and peace - sometimes these things happen quickly and other times we get to experience and come alive to our journeys in amazing ways. I don't want to live with my soul on auto-pilot. I want to be as awe-struck as the woman at the well. I want to here Jesus call me out - and then offer me life-changing grace. This is the kind of grace that can fill all the hurts and voids in our lives - the kind that makes us truly free and whole.
Ok...I'll stop preaching now. I fear that I don't relay the significance of this story completely - that it's a real story about a real lady. She is me. She is you. She is us. We need Jesus to stop us during our daily tasks and say I have something for you that will change your life forever. And we need to know that sometimes we must drop what we planned to do and listen.
Well, at least I need to.

my boys have chapel at school every friday and we get to worship and sing we have alot of great worship songs but to hear the children sing, wow i know what you mean

I heard Jesus Sunday at church. Listening to you talking about the woman at the well and why young adolescents don't always come to church. You gave me the words and courage to broach the subject with one of our offspring, and I think it made an impression on her. The love is the important part, not the "plastics". Anyway, thanks for the inspiration.

I need to stop & listen. In the busyness of the days I am just going through the motions. I need the distraction of Jesus to liven me up.

God's grace sustains us. It empowers us, it holds us. Thank God for His amazing grace! Thanks for sharing. We also heard a message on grace. Seems like a lot of people needed to hear it, I know I did! Thanks Dev for reinforcing!
