| ELECTION ANALYSIS FROM INDIA |
The result of Indian election is out now.
Most of the winners have started to claim that it is a pat on their back for their best services in the last couple of years, whereas the losers are struggling to justify the fate. However, if I do a realistic analysis of the result of the Indian Election 2009, the following points need stress. Also, this is a letter to the political parties in India.
MARXIST: The Central and state leadership of CPM should step down taking the moral responsibility for their lose. In Kerala the party was protecting its corrupt leaders even ignoring the public sentiments and always stood against progressive steps taken by the central government. The fight between a corrupt State General Secretary and the Chief Minister was a nasty business that the People of Kerala witnessed in the last decade. On the other hand, the central leadership always stood against development in the country including 123 Agreement/nuclear agreement. If the former Speaker Mr. Chatterjee commented that the Marxist leadership in India is of narcissist politicians, it is not an exaggeration. The pseudo-ego of Mr. P. Karat & Mr. V Pinarai has defeated the party to the ground level.
BJP: Mr. Atal Bihari Bajpai was an efficient leader and eminent personality with emotional equilibrium. During his tenure as Prim Minister of India, even the opposition was silent on many matters. Mr. L.K. Advani, the current leader of BJP, should never be compared with him. Mr. Advani, who was instrumental for various communal clashes since the last decade, has never been accepted by the general public. Considering the above, he should leave his Prim Ministerial dream; instead, he should control the fanatic leaders who play cast card in BJP ruled states like Gujarat, MP, Karnataka, and other parts of the country for political success. Citizens of India are fed-up with cast card, religious supremacy and the so-called secularism.
3RD AND 4TH FRONTS: India is not fond of multiple fronts and alliances formed by regional parties. The slow development and corruption among politicians have forced an average Indians to think against multiple alliances. People are ready to go with a Congress led United Progressive Alliance and on the other side a BJP led National Democratic Alliance. Influence of regional parties always thwarts national development and international collaborations. Ban of English in schools, agitation against privatization of various sectors, protest on celebrating west-originated feasts and customs, collaboration with multinational companies etc are some of the examples for this type of interferences. I ardently desire, in future too, if two-front concept should be the strategy in India.
CONGRESS: The current verdict is a support to the ruling government for its nuclear policy (123 agreement), economic policies, international policies etc. Its a green flag to go ahead with development. It’s a verdict to involve more number of youth and the educated in the mainstream for the country’s development. It’s a verdict for equality, secularism, and stability. People of India expect a lot from the new government and the government should not forget that.

NOTE: “common man’s expectations from the new government” is coming soon in this space.
