| BALIKA VADHU... !! |
Indian cinema industry, especially the Bollywood, is well-known for presenting innovative themes in various multi Million film projects. Each time a new film released, thousands of Indian folks rush to multiplexes to watch the same in its first show itself. Even I am very much fond of Bollywood films. However, realistically thinking, what exactly we gain from such a films...? Nothing, but some entertainment….!!
A large number of family people and women in rural areas hours of time watching serials like “Saas Bahu..”. They are sitting in front of the idiot box, just to weep and comment on certain fictions without any cream converted as tele serials. Again what we get from such tele serials....? only curiosity and tension for the next day half an hour…!!
When I write this, the only objective is to second a very popular tele-serial in COLORS channel named after " Balika Vadhu". I strongly recommend you to watch this serial just because of one best reason among many. There is entertainment, romance, climaxes, anti climaxes, etc.; but what makes Balika Vadhu different from all other tele serials is the theme presented in its each episode or moreover the inspiration given to millions of rural folks and the so called urban educated to stand against various kinds of unhealthy social practices, social stigma, and superstitious beliefs, in the largest democracy in the world.
Starting from child marriage, widowhood, re-marriage, etc, the so-called customs and traditions based on a host of rusted practices and superstitions are narrated beautifully in this “Balika Vadhu.” Frankly speaking, I have become addict to this show because of its social concern. Aanandy, Suguna, Jagdish, etc with Kalyani, Sumitra and Gahana and two strong brothers depicts one of the best social service efforts and social advocacy through mass media in the country.
I recommend all to watch this serial, telecasted on every working day at 8.00 pm.
