 The Elitist Factor
I still keep hearing people calling Sen. Barack Obama an elitist. The final straw for me was when Lady Lynn Forest de Rothchild stated in a CNN interview that "I don't like him," I feel like he is an elitist."

For those of you who may not know Lady de Rothchild. She is the 3rd wife of Sir Evelyn Robert Adrian de Rothchild of the prominent Rothchild banking family of England. She is a multimillionaire who is the Director of Estee Lauder Cosmetics and Founder and CEO of E.L. Rothchild LLC. She is a wealthly socialite who had the privilege of taking her honeymoon at the White House. She was a staunch supporter for Hillary Clinton, but has not switched her support to Sen. McCain. And her only reasoning is that he feels Sen. Obama is an elitist. Now, does this make any sense to you because it sure as hell did not make sense for me?

For nearly 200 hundred years, Blacks were made to feel inferior. Made to feel like bottom feeders. For so long have we strive to make better lives for ourselves, our families, and our communities. And now, am I understanding that by succeeding and achieving we are now punished for it and labeled "ELITIST". How can that be? Are we still at a point where a Black person can't receive a fair shot?

Sen. Barack Obama worked his ass off to get where he's at. So what if he's a Harvard grad? Is everyone forgetting President George W. Bush went to Yale. President Bill Clinton went to Georgetown. Over half of your Congressional leaders and past Presidents are ivy league grads, former lawyers, highly successful businessman, and most richer than God. And someone, like Lady de Rothchild and others like her have the audacity to call someone else elitist.

And I'm not even going to get into Sen. McCain's life nor Cindy McCain's good taste in $3,000.00 Oscar de la Renta suites.

So, here's a couple of questions to stew on:

1) When did becoming successful equal ELITISM?

2) When did the tea pots start calling the kettle black?

If by being a successful black man or woman and striving to achieve a better life for you, your family, and your community makes you an elitist--then I will proudly stand up and say

I'M AN ELITIST AND I'M PROUD!!!
