One of the wish in my life is to travel all over the world.I like to meet new people, learn their culture, share ideas. That is why I always look forward to any travel opportunities that comes in my way.Last summer,I had a trip to Mysore,a beautiful city of south India.

Mysore ,the name now changed to Mysuru,is 130 KM away from Bangalore.
We started early in the morning from Bangalore. We hired a taxi for the trip and headed towards Mysore on NH-17,the Bangalore-Mysore Highway. The scenic beauty on both sides of NH-17  was awesome. On the way to Mysore,we stopped  at Srirangapatana for about 1 hour.Sringapatana or Sringapattanam as locally called, was the summer capital of Tipu sultan.

It was nice to see the remnants of history and go back to the past and feel proud about our freedom fighters for whom we are able to breathe freely. There is a museum at Tipu's summer palace which has lots of oil painting and antiques of Tipu.We had our breakfast in a nearby hotel. The food was delicious as well as the hospitality.

Then we headed for Mysore, our destination.we reached around 11 AM.we straight went to Mysore palace .The Mysore palace was official residence of former royal family of Mysore.

The Mysore palace is a architectural master piece of Mysore city. The palace houses a treasure of superb carvings and artistic works from all over the world. The palace is a three storeyed building with a series of square arched towers crowned by domes. A gold-plated dome 145 from the ground covers the open courtyard in the center. The dramatic entrance way of the place takes you through the the 'Gombe Thotti' (the Doll's Pavilion) that exhibits classic European and Indian sculpture and ceremonial articles. The main entrance to the center of the palace is through the Elephant Gate, ornamented with floral designs and sporting a double-headed eagle as the royal symbol of Mysore.

Another place on must visit list of every tourist is chamundeswari temple situated on the top of chamnd hill, situated at a height of 1000 meters. The journey from place to top of the hill is very enjoyable. You can see the panoramic view of the city from the top of the hill.

Another place of interest is St. Philomena's Church ,situated at the center of city.
The St. Philomena's Church in Mysore is one of the oldest churches in India. It is over 200 years old. Initially over 250 years ago there was a small church in its place.

Though it was already evening,we were yet to explore the full mysore. The city is famous for Mysore silk Saree and traditional sweet dish "Mysore Pak."We too shopped a lot for everyone.

The last place of our  tour was Vrindavan garden which is 25 KMs from the city of Mysore.
The garden is embellished with vast expanses of well-laid out lawns, diverse kaleidoscopic rows of flowers and above all the amazing site of fountains encompassing a small beautiful lake holding the charm of musical fountain in its center.

The musical fountain is a place to watch during night. The main charm in the garden is its "Dancing Fountain" where fountains dance on the tunes of music and makes magnificent color patterns. The Musical fountains have spectacular harmony of water, colors and music. With the splendid play of lights and musical fountains one could feel the charm of heaven on earth

This was the last part part of our Mysore and we returned back to Bangalore with sweet memories of Mysore.
