I can remember when I walked side-by-side with my Latino bredren in Perth Amboy to protest segregation not only here in this town but also South Amboy, Sayreville, and Windsor. That's where I'm from. West Windsor. And now just because of the "costly" real estate rebates, Trenton talks about eliminating cities and towns with populations of less than 10,000. You know, consolidating cities and towns. Less services and administrative haggles.
So don't hate them. Know that the Latino people are a proud people. A mighty people. Don't look at them with mistrust and opprobrium. I know the mayor of Perth Amboy. I've known him for years even when he used to own the liquor store on Smith Street. They care about civil rights. They care about the civil rights of blacks. You don't believe me?!! Well, maybe you're right. But listen, I can remember when Perth Amboy was nothing but Puerto Ricans. Now, look at it, it's all Mexicans. And when you see blacks living now in this town, it's because of cross-breeding. We make good cross-breeders with the Latinos -----
