The Hand of Hashem in Nature
The festival of Hanukah celebrates the victory of religious Jews of the Greeks and their sympathizers. What was the war about? The Greeks loved knowledge and believed that the world was run of the basis of scientific principles. The Jews agreed that there are scientific principles but they are simply a vehicle for Hashem's will. In addition if nature is examined closely, one will see the hand of the Creator in it. The nature of secular knowledge very often is to conceal the hand of heaven. One is told that the system is self contained and runs by itself. Judaism asserts that in the vastness of the universe one will see the vastness of the Creator and in the central principles one will see the unity of Hashem. Ultimately we see that there is a sense of purpose in natural phenomena and that the universe is being reshaped into the image of G-d.
