It has been a LONG time since I've written anything, so be nice! ha.
He said " I really need to go,
I have to seek my dreams,
It's something I need to do,
No matter how silly it seems."
He wiped the tears from her eyes,
Kept himself cool as she pled,
Giving her a final hug and kiss,
"Please wait for me" he said.
On a lonely bus headed west,
He leaves behind a love that's true,
He can feel himself start to fall apart
But still thinks this is what he needs to do.
Days turn into weeks then months,
He can hear her pain with every call
And so he contacts her less and less,
But pushing her away doesn't stop his fall.
On a ranch thousands of miles away,
His fire burns in the cool night,
As he looks at the stars, he thinks,
Without her, his dream just doesn't seem right.
Fearing she's moved on he stays,
Falling further apart day by day,
He wants to go home, to hold her tight,
But he just can't seem to find a way.
And so up at dawn to go to work,
He tries to carry himself tall,
Though deep inside he wonders,
If, without her, he will ever stop this fall.
