| Your Government Lies... |
If you live in the United States, and even if you don't, this stuff might sound a little crazy. But bear with me. This is important shit that will affect all of us for the rest of our lives.
To start this off, understand that everything you hear on the news or in a televised conference or newspaper interview isn't always true. In fact, most mass media such as Fox or CNN skew their facts to the point where it's so overly inflated that it's completely misleading. And they do that on purpose. The medias only purpose is to numb us by encouraging us to sit on our couch and listen to them, and listen when they tell us that we need to be afraid. Afraid of everything. Afraid of swine flu, terrorists, serial killers, pedophiles, wild cougars, piosons in your water, lead on your toys, the next congressional scandal, revolutionaries, individualism. The list goes on.
I personally refuse to watch the news. Well, unless you consider the Colbert Report and Daily Show news =) I read the paper every once in a while, but you have to be careful. Just use your common sense and understand that what you read may not always be the exact truth.
And then there are times where we are flat out lied to. Over and over.
Iran-Contra Affair- Not only was the U.S. selling weapons to Iran in the 80's, we were using that money we made to fund the anti-communist Contra revolution in Nicaragua. So not only did Reagan and Olliver North go against congress' orders and sell munitions to Iran, it gets worse. The CIA, through their operative Danilo Blandone, and "Freeway" Ricky Ross, bought cocaine from the Contras, imported it into the U.S. and sold it on the streets of Los Angeles and beyond. The CIA documents containing the information on the drug smuggling operation is contained in the operations Amadeus, Pegasus, and Watchtower. An amazing documentary on this is called American Drug War: The Last White Hope.
September 11- No, I'm not saying that the U.S. government is responsible for destroying the towers. However, I am saying that in the late 70's the CIA had an operation in which they trained hundreds of Afghan refugees ON AMERICAN SOIL (INCLUDING BIN LADEN!!!), then sent them to Afghanistan to fight against the Soviets during their invasion of the country. We trained Bin Laden! For everyone paying taxes in the U.S. in the 70's, your money was used to eventually destroy two skyscrapers and kill thousands of U.S. citizens. Of course, this all occured without the support of congress. The rebels trained were known as the Mujaheddin, and were actually succesful in repelling the Soviet troops in 1979. However, though Washington accomplished it's greedy goal of keeping the Communists away from their shit, it definitely is not worth the murder of thousands of civilians two decades later. The government spend an estimated $6 (some as high as $20) billion U.S. dollars training these bastards. But it gets worse!!! Jimmy Carters National Security advisor Zbigniew Brzezinski, not only wanted to train these radicals, he wanted to train them so he could release islamic fanatacism into the Soviet Union to destabilize it. Then in Operation Desert Storm, we allied with them again! And yet again in the early 90's when they rained U.S. supplied missiled down on Kabul killing 2,000 civilians. The Chief of the CIA William Casey stated in an interview that had he known that Bin Laden would later end up destroying the twin towers, if he still would have trained him for aid against the Soviets, he said he would still hold true to his decision. Empirical bastard.
Gulf War Syndrome- So in the 80's Bush Sr., Donald Rumsfeld, and Dick Cheney decided that it would be a good idea to supply the late bat shit crazy Saddam Hussein, former dictator of Iraq, with chemical and biological weaponry. Then, during the Gulf War in the early 90's, we bombed the very same chemical and biological facilities we had formerly helped fund. This released mass amounts of harmful chemicals into the surrounding environment. In MArch of 1991, U.S. engineers destroyed a weapons storage facility in Khamisiya releasing a toxic cloud over U.S. troops preparing to depart. A DVD on this is known as Beyond Treason and it's amazing. It describes how the CIA had been ordering the destruction of sites containing extremely toxic chemicals, that when destroyed, were released and absorbed by U.S. soldiers. Years later, when an unexplained sickness occured, Gulf War Syndrome was born. Thanks to the U.S. government.
