I always thought this movie was overrated, becuase people get so obsessed with it. Well I decided to watch it without any of those expectations and without people quoting every other line, and I haven't seen the movie in 3+ years. I was really impressed with the movie. They director managed the perfect balance of action and comedy. Willem Dafoe does an excellent job as the police investigator. He reminds me of Gary Oldman in The Professional, except that he's the good guy.
The essential plot is that two Irish men become vigilantes and start killing people who they deem as evil.
Definitely recommended, except for kids. It's a good movie for almost any occasion. Just watch it, you'll know what I mean.

Hi, two gorgeous boys with Irish accents on a violent rampage against the perpetrators of crime in Boston? Waiter, party of one, please! The two main stars are convincing in their roles of devout Catholic boys who have had enough with a city of injustice. Dafoe, as the flamboyant, opera-loving detective assigned to track their crimes, is marvelous. From the melodramatic dances at crime scenes to "Get me a bagel with cream cheese", he rules his character with precision that is delightful to watch. Paddy, the neighborhood pub owner, owns his role as an adorable little man, who just happens to have Tourette's Syndrome that forces some naughty language. The cast of actors in this movie is prefectly chosen to reflect the phenomenal script and atmosphere of the film - even Ron Jeremy
This may be a "guys' movie" but every boyfriend should make his girlfriend watch it at least once. There are no women featured (imagine, an action movie that doesn't need T&A shots to be a hit!) and there's no "aww" moments, but girls will go for the two lead characters.
And poor M - on his first viewing, I subjected him to the "1 drink for every time someone curses" game. And those of us who have seen the movie recall Rocko's F-word scene in the hotel room. M tolerates me so well.
