| Weekend Gig & Castle Evenings

Happy Monday to my fellow bloggers. Another Monday to relax after a weekend of work.
As I have yet to blog about my personal life, some of you might be wondering what I do for a living. I'm a Real Estate agent and since I don't like being stuck behind a desk it's a profession that suits me well. It's a new career venture for me. I started last Fall when my roommate invited me to join him in the business. Not the best time to be selling real estate ... but I'm a girl who doesn't buy into the gloom and doom heard on the evening news. I'm finding my new career challenging and most interesting. The biggest challenge has been juggling my time between work, home duties and hobbies. Not to mention the dust bunnies, who are gaining the upper hand. Reading, writing, enjoying nature and meditating are vital to my spirit's welfare. While I have an office at the agency, most of my work can be done from my home computer, which helps a lot. I love working with people. Last week I closed on my first deal ... the sale of a condo to a young couple, their first home. They were so excited and thrilled and it warmed my heart that I was part of the process. The warm fuzzies I got receiving the commission check weren't bad either. Even with the slow market I have been keeping busy. When one deal is finished there always seems to be another one waiting for my attention.
On weekends I work at a new construction site showing and selling homes for, a local builder, Michael. Sometimes I work both Saturday and Sunday ... sometimes just Sunday. With the arrival of nicer weather and Spring there will be more Saturdays and Sundays. Not a bad gig, as the model home (a Cape Cod) is beautifully furnished and very nice. Michael has been most helpful to me ... explaining how to deal with customers and sharing many valuable selling tips. I admire his work ethic, attention to detail and personalized customer service. At our first meeting I learned that Michael grew up locally in a family of nine children and is married with 3 boys. I knew he had been hospitalized and when I inquired he shared he had a bad heart and needed a transplant. The other agents at my office (some of whom have worked with Michael for over a year) had no knowledge of this. For some reason I have this knack of finding out everyone's life story without 20 minutes of meeting them. The week before Christmas a heart became available and Michael got his new heart ... a pretty awesome Christmas present. He's doing remarkably well, already driving and getting back into his normal routine, but with a totally new perspective on life.
This week, Wednesday, it's off to my tax accountant to have my income taxes completed. Gary's office has a nautical theme. He collects lighthouses and has them displayed everywhere. Anything associated with the ocean or water has a calming effect on me. Calm is good when taxes are involved. While I enjoy his office I don't enjoy the stress of tax time. Hopefully, with all my business expenses, I will have a few more deductions than last year. I'm so thankful and blessed to have found Gary. He's very efficient and I feel totally confident and at ease throwing it all into his capable hands.
I'm excited as tonight one of my favorite shows, "Dancing With The Stars" kicks off a new season. I'm a bit embarrassed to say, but I do watch and enjoy "The Bachelor", which starts tonight also. I'm a pure romantic at heart and watch more to see all the romantic travel destinations. My mom, who is 84, watches also. Sometimes we talk about the behavior of the girls and how silly the show is. Last season Mom and I were both livid as Bachelor Brad sent both of the final two ladies home crying. I realize this is all reality TV and fantasy, but my mom and I are totally into fairy tale happy endings when it comes to books, movies and reality TV shows. The new bachelor is a Brit from London. I do enjoy an English accent so that in itself should keep me watching. Unless by some twist of fate my Prince Charming were to appear and a social life ensued, with evenings spent not in front of the castle TV, but out on the town. Nice thought, but I'm not holding my breath.
Wishing you all a great week. Peace. |

It's awesome to hear about your life. I worked for a realtor in college and I loved it. I was her office manager. I think working with the right people can be rewarding. Hope you enjoyed your shows!

ColoradoDreamin it was nice to read a little bit about you! What your life is aside from thoughts.
I have been in Real Estate for about 10 years, before that I was an investor. I got my license to save time and money on commissions. When Real Estate gets real busy Realtors have so much going on I use to miss great deals, so I thought what the heck. Well one thing lead to another and I started working with other investors and then I bought an office and built it up to 189 agents and then I sold it. Good timing for me too I might say. Now I am off and running in a new direction.
I hope Real Estate is as good to you as it has been for me.
I use to always say it is gangster money.
Anyway I hope all is well.
