| This Is It |
On Monday I saw the Michael Jackson movie, "This Is It", in a large theater with 10 other patrons. The surround sound was awesome -- perhaps because the theater was empty. I left the theater energized and profoundly touched on many different emotional levels. It was interesting to see the work, time and effort that goes into planning one of these mega concerts. Even though the movie consisted of rehearsal footage every single person was giving 100% and you could just feel the joy and happiness that presents itself when someone is exercising their passion and doing what they were put on this earth to do.
One of the most touching moments in the movie (for me) came during the performance of "Earth Song". The song is accompanied by a video featuring the most adorable little girl wandering through a rain forest at play with butterflies. (This child appears again after the credits, but I was the only one to see that part of the movie because every single person left the theater before the ending credits finished rolling) Near the end of the video a huge bulldozer comes into view and this little girl reaches in front of the bulldozer to rescue a small tree -- the image extremely powerful to me. Back on stage a real bulldozer appears behind Michael as the song ends. It made me sad that such an amazing creative talent is no longer among us and that Michael died before he could perform this concert live and in person. If my schedule permits I would love to see this movie again before it departs from theaters.
