Here in Michigan we welcomed in 2008 with a fresh coating of snow. A beautiful snowfall with just the right conditions allowing the snow to stick to (and outline) every tree branch, bush and limb. The pine trees could not have been more perfect if someone had carefully laid the snow on each branch. My world has been transformed into a sparkling fairy land of beauty and wonder. Today as I headed to the grocery store I found myself in awe of the beauty of nature. I longed to immerse myself even more in this beauty and decided shopping could wait. I headed to a local park that runs though the city and for the next half hour filled my soul and spirit with a beauty created not by man, but by God.
As I drove along my mind drifted to a verse from a song I hadn't thought about in years. A song that speaks about the beauty of nature being small compared to the joy and beauty of God's love.
I don't think, this side of heaven, any of us can truly grasp or conceive the concept of God's love. I talk to people all the time who say ... oh God hates me, I had some hard things to say to Him and now He's not speaking to me ... or God is through with me, I screwed up one to many times.
Yes, we see a glimpse of God's love when a loved one forgives us, in the kind deeds of a neighbor, friend or stranger and in the outpouring of goods and services following a natural disaster ... but a love that is always there no matter what is rarely seen and frankly a bit hard to imagine. We didn't earn this love. It's freely given to all who want it. Just as free firewood, offered on a country road, is available to anyone stopping by and loading it into their trunk. Even in our most repulsive, ugliest, disgusting moments this love does not turn away. Each one of us has struggles. Most of us, at some time or another, feel unworthy and many of us walk around with the ball of guilt and shame chained to our feet. While we feel consumed we need not be, for God's compassion and love never fail ... in fact they are brand new every single morning.
THE BEAUTY OF LOVE
Keith Brown
(Verse 1 & Chorus)
I've seen where the ocean flows
and touches the sky
I've been on the mountaintop
where the eagle flies
I've seen a first snowfall
felt a cool summer rain
but nothing is quite like the joy
that God's love brings.
'cause the beauty of love
is the greatest of all
not seen with these eyes
but felt in my soul
so let it shine
and let it be shared
'cause the beauty of love
will never be compared

The beauty of God's Love shines and pours forth through your words.
I have only known you for a short time, but you have already enhanced my life with goodness.
I am so glad that you became a member of Thoughts.com.
If you hadn't, I would have never known the pleasure of knowing you.
The Love in your writing is so crystal clear, just like the snowflakes you admired today.
You truly are one of God's most beautiful creations.

That is a beautiful look at love.If only everyone could see God's beauty and know that He never changes his feelings for us. Even when we walk away, he is there with open arms. All we have to do is ask....
