| Question Of The Day -- Friday 06/27/08
|
|
|
It's with great honor and humility that I accept the baton for todays question of the day!
Many thanks to those QOD'ers who have gone before me: Anotherdaze, Hollis, EasyToSay, KP, Angelwings, Long, TonyRayHutchison, SpiritualComa, PixieRose, Smileforthecamera, Geordiedreamer, Whiteknight, Meredith, Prelude2it, Bullseye, Mamacita925, DouglasMB, Mandie142, Ladiegodiva, Katydids_and_daisies, Slash, Noahseth, Kaybee, JBP, Sean_ Barr, Lastblastkl, Tantrictouch, TheAlreadyJaded, NakedTruth, Chebtastic1, and WhiteDiamonds ... and anybody else I missed!! Please visit KP's blog for a QOD recap.
As many of you know I'm a sensitive girl who seems to find beauty and inspiration in the most ordinary and simple things. It's hard for me to believe that a tree or blade of grass doesn't experience feelings in the same way we do. A tumbleweed blowing down the road can melt my heart and bring a tear to my eye as I see the rhythm of nature in action. Where has that tumbleweed been and where will it's journey end? The fingerprints of God, revealed in the beauty and harmony of this world, are limitless and much to grand for one mere heart to hold. Today's question is about feelings of the heart.
Who or what inspires you?
Tomorrow the QOD leaves the Motor City, USA and travels to Ontario, Canada as BootLady has graciously agreed to accept the baton.

This come out corny but....
The stories I read here of love that makes it despite all odds are what inspire me. People out there living their dreams and making them/having them come true.
That inspires me

YAY!! GO CD!! Good to see you with the QOD :D
I agree with WK, a lot of people here on thoughts, inspire me in a lot of different ways.
My boyfriend inspires me when i see him working so hard towards his dream..he really leaves no stone unturned.
I've seen a lot of people achieve a lot inspite of all sorts of problems, even life threatening situations...they just dont let themselves feel sorry for themselves. I really admire that about them, and try to do the same :)
Like WK, people who live their dream, who do everything to make it come true, inspire me a lot. It takes guts to dream, and even more guts to make them come true...

Just five little words in your question, CD, and a flood of answers come to mind. I'll just pick a couple to leave room for others.
I am inspired by my daughter. She has the courage to follow her dreams. Something I have never had.
Having just got back from a romp through the Rockies and the wilds of BC, I have to say that I have seen some truly awe-inspiring scenery, largely untouched by the hand of man. Most inspiring of all? There is a place on Vancouver Island where the trees are close to 800 years old. They are absolutely massive! Standing among them made me feel so small and insignificant. I found this very inspiring.

Besides the turbulate relationship I had with my mother. I would say that she inspired me. Her courage, her strengh and her will powe to keep going on no matter what was happening in her life.
Howere at times it was frustrating too, as she would always put work before anything else. Even at the point of when my day was dying I had to ring her boss to arrange some one to cover for her, otherwise she wouldn't have asked.
So some times her priotries were a little of course.

My children keep me on my toes and let me know I have no choice but to carry on. I can be inspired by them, my husband,TRUE FRIENDS,skylines, sun rising and sunsets, new trees and flowers in bloom, fall colored trees, music, poetry, good heart felt movies, etc. on and on I could go.
I hope this answers the question you were asking.
I'm glad to know you got a chance at the baton!!! You made a beautiful choice in your question.

I find inspiration in different types of things... like good books, films, music, my crazy friends, nature... But most of all I'm inspired by my father. His life is the best example for me. And also I appreciate his belief in me. He always shows me my advantages and ways to use and improve them. When I can't do something he encourages me, his love supports me.
And I adore his jokes! :)

I think it depends on my mood. Sometimes a song, a book, or a movie can inspire me.
But I think sometimes my family inspires me, or my boyfriend. I see them doing great things and that makes me want to do the same.

I am inspired by people staying true to themselves despite other people and the world around them trying to make them what they are not. People like you who still are in awe of nature and simple things and have not gotten caught up in the flashy buzz of the world.
And music inspires me, stories, I guess I can find inspiration in the smallest of places.
Thank you for a great QOD on friday!!!!

People who think above the herd. People who aren't afraid to let their opinions be known even if it is not socially acceptable.
Words and books written by men with great insight and who inspire me to learn even more everyday.

I'm inspired by my daughter. She gives me the strength to go on, she's my rock, my life, my heart and my soul. If I didn't have her I wouldn't be anything or anyone...To her I'm a rockstar and I love her for that

Nice QOD Dreamin' I am an artist. Artists, an artists soul inspires me.
The look deeper into things, to portray them , interpret them for others appreciation. Little children inspire me, the innocence, the genuine curiosity, the full expressions of love, the total appreciation of happy things, the generosity of spirit.
The genuine honesty of small children.
Old people who still love life and show it, teens who want to 'make a difference' and volunteer thier energy to a cause inspire me. My husband inspires me, he makes more of an effort than anyone I know in this world. he is sick, uncomplaining, still is working, and finds happiness in every day. That inspires me.

For me it can be many things but today it was a spider climbing up the water spout beside the conservatory. Time and time again she fell a little, but recovered and continued all the way to the top where she sat delicately beside a raindrop on a clematis leaf. (Had to be a she!)

Music inspires me. It runs through my blood not just through my ears. Without music, I wouldn't be on this site.

Ooh, so many inspirations this life has to offer! Like Bootlady said, I'm gonna offer just two or three, to save some room! :-)
My father was and still is a great inspiration. Although he passed 7 years ago, knowing that he wanted it for me, has spurred me on to pass at college and get a slot at University.
Of course my mum inspires me too - she lost her soulmate, and yet she carries on....she supported her kids (me and sis) when our dad died, even though at the end of the day she found herself alone in a big old house without her husband...for that, I am in awe of her and her resilliance.
David...of course, David...he has inspired me to be all I can be, love all I can love...achieve my dreams
Stanley...little Stanley...by rights should not have survived, and yet here he is, with us, just beginning at life and taking our breath away every time I look at him
As far as nature goes...well I have a beautiful beach across the road now, dont I? :-)
I went across to it at 4am this morning and watched the sunrise. It felt like I was the only person in the world that was awake...I close my eyes and felt the breeze on my face, could smell the sea salt and hear the waves crashing on the rocks...I felt alive it was incredibly moving.
Lovely question, thank you

Women...
[Run with it. Use yer imagination. Do whatever:P I could go on and on about the potential women have to inspire. Many are muses.]
And, as of late, music and movies are often what help sprout more of the same. Seeding their own kind as well as other projects. Even though the way the world is currently, music is quite depressing more often than not and movies are being suffocated at the box office.

My biggest inspiration was my grandmother. She passed away in 2004 but her legacy continues in my daily life.
Although I have a hard time it seems, to be able to find the good in myself and to be able to share that good with others. My grandmother taught me what unconditional love is.
She forgave me when I wronged her terribly; she showed me what grace truly is and how to utterly forgive other people when I have been wronged by them.
She battled cancer for over 8 years and as her care taker for the last 3 ½ of them, I saw her go from a strong and commanding woman to a frail gentle creature yet I never, not one moment, saw her ever give up. When the morning came that she decided it was time to go, she looked at everyone in the room and said I love you all. She went to sleep, and never woke up. She was that strong.
I hope that I can stay that strong through out my life.

My biggest inspiration is in life itself, every morning is a blessing, every day, week, month year.
The beauty of the world, the beauty of people that is what imspires me from day to day.

My son inspires me a lot. He's everything I want to be. Carefree, funny, adventerous, he loves unconditionally, and is very curious.
Also, my friend Joel inspired me with a simple phrase he said "Life is a gift. Don't sit there wondering what's inside. Just open it."

once in a while, a brilliant song comes and flows carelessly in my ear. now i know music is music. but these few songs, they melodies just blow me away! some of them capture an emotion SO well that i HAVE to stop whatever i'm doing and listen to that melody over and over again. these few songs, when they come along, inspire me.
has inspiration ever scared anyone? it sounds silly but my dad is my inspiration. if i could be half the man he is i'd be more than happy. but i'm scared because i dont want to be like him. does that make sense?

My husband inspires me. After overcoming a potentially life threatening illness twice, he still shows me how to be strong and brave. He is such a positive and brave, yet gentle and loving father and husband, who treasures every day and is teaching me to do the same.
My two gorgeous children also inspire me....constantly showing me the sort of parent I want to be....and I love and thank them for that.

Life inspires me; every living thing, the breath whatever god may be breathes in to the creatures of earth. Everything is deserving of appreciation and has inspirational potential if you only take the time to stop and smell the roses.
