 Nobody Does It Like You
The relationship a girl has with her hair stylist is very special.  I think of this today as I sit here feeling quite unattractive with the worst haircut ... a haircut so short there's not enough hair to wrap around my curling iron.  Did I not convey what I wanted, new person, or were you just feeling scissor happy?

Dear Stephanie --

I miss you ... I need you.  You have been a part of my life for years.  I met you as a young girl searching for your place in life.  Now you have grown and blossomed into a beautiful woman ... a wife and mother.  I supported you when you decided to move to another salon quite a distance from my home.  The 45 minute drive, each way, was worth every mile.  I'm happy and thrilled you found love and God has blessed you with a beautiful daughter and a son, who will enter this world any day now.  I understand and totally get that you need to step away and enjoy your new baby and be at home to raise and enjoy the amazing little people your children are.

Your ability (as a stylist) left me looking and feeling beautiful on the outside ... your positive attitude and giving sweet spirit made me feel special and beautiful on the inside.  You encouraged me to leave fear behind and experience life to the fullest.  You believed I could do anything I set my mind to when I couldn't believe that for myself.  Thank you for blessing my life.
------------------------------------
Stephanie's talent got me thinking about the uniqueness of people.  In reality we all could be taught how to cut and style hair, (or another trade) but given the same task each person goes about it a little differently and the results are never identical.

I was raised to believe that I wasn't special.  That if I left this earth the things I do could be done, much better, by someone else.  The truth is each one of us possesses special abilities.  No one makes chicken dinner like my grandmother used to.  No one gets or understands me like the long ago friend who is no longer in my life.  I'm not sure what my unique gifts are.  I'm going to ponder that today.  If you are reading this I want you to know that you are special ... you are an original masterpiece ... no one in this world can take your place.  Today dwell in your uniqueness and realize you are a valuable asset to this world.
