"There is a right time for everything.
Everything on earth has its special season."
Ecclesiastes 3:1 (NCV)
Thanks for all the wonderful comments on my post, "Spring Thoughts".
That post, written yesterday, came to mind as I awoke, this morning, to a Winter Wonderland (8-10 inches of snow) outside my window pane. Not fair, I thought, Winter had it's time and now it's Spring's turn to dazzle me with all it's beauty. After all, Santa is the one with the sleigh - not the Easter bunny.
Does this minor setback (return to Winter) mean Spring will not grace us with it's presence this year? ... Of course not!!!
Like nature, our lives hold many setbacks and "out of season" experiences, as well. Times when we cry and wail - "Not fair" ... "I give up" ... "I'll never be happy" ... "This was supposed to be my season to shine". How many times have you allowed a "not yet" to become a "not ever"? A setback is a bump in the road (a detour), not the end of the road. While not the fastest or most direct route, a detour does offer safe passage to our destination. Many times offering sights, surprises, blessings and experiences not found on the main highway. What would April and May look like if, when facing a Spring Snow storm, the daffodils and tulips took on a hopeless negative attitude and declared defeat?
Don't let a setback become a shutdown. Practice a little patience, enjoy the scenery and lessons learned off the beaten path. Keep a positive attitude (colored Easter eggs are easy to find on a blanket of white snow and with nature's refrigeration no worries about spoilage) ... continue praying and working, in faith, toward your goals and dreams. Believe that a delay is God's way of fine tuning things .... His way of making the fruition of your hopes, aspirations and dreams even more fragrant and special. Peace.
