 Happiness Is A Warm Puppy
Yesterday found me feeling cheerless and unloved.  Nothing had happened to bring about these feelings, but dreary thoughts were on my mind most of the day.  How could April have gone by so quickly?  May is here and my birthday is fast approaching.  I have no concrete plans or any idea how I wish to spend my day.  Looking in the mirror I feel this year has aged me more than any other.  I'm concerned about the slow real estate market.  I haven't had a showing or new listing in quite some time.  I dread having to start thinking about another job, and have no idea what I want to do or what I will be able to find.  Spring has left for the time being, resulting in the heat being turned back on and the Winter coat taken out of the closet.  It seems the warm weather, I love so much, is only for June-August.

On the way home from dinner a man dressed in a puppy costume caught my eye.  He was standing by the side of the road, waving to the passing cars, near a strip mall driveway.  He held a sign that read "puppy sale".  I drove past thinking how cold it must be having to stand outdoors generating business for the pet store, located in the mall.  For some reason I decided to turn around and check out the store.  My allergist wouldn't approve of me having a dog, but it couldn't hurt to look around.

When I got into the store I found a large selection of puppies.  They were in cages with solid glass on my side and cage like bars on the other.  They were so cute and so excited to see me.  Tails wagged nonstop and their little noses pressed against the glass.  I couldn't help but feel the love.  The store also contained an area where you could spend some time with one of the puppies, if you so desired.  The sales girl asked if I wanted to see one so I picked out a cute little brown ball of fluff.  I can't be positive, but think she was a Pomeranian/Poodle mix.  I have never had a pet so I'm not all that comfortable with animals.  To my surprise she took to me instantly, loving my pant legs and having great fun pulling at my shoe laces.  She wanted to be held and even though I felt my hold on her was a bit awkward she nestled in and settled right down.  I could feel her little heart beating and loved how warm and fuzzy she felt in my arms.  The 10-15 minutes I spent with her were the best moments of my day.  I left the store with lifted spirits and feeling very loved.  I didn't even care that my nose was running and my eyes were itching.  I took some allergy medicine when I got home and felt thankful and blessed that God had revealed his love to me through a little puppy.  I hope my little friend finds a loving home.  I wish her a long wonderful happy life.

awwwww that is soooo sweet of you ....

I would not have been able to leave that puppy in the shop.

The day we purchased Tiger, we'd gone into the shop to JUST HAVE A LOOK.... then of course i made the mistake of asking for a hold - well the rest is history

I've never seen a puppy fail to cheer someone. Your post has left me with a smile that won't go away! Thanks for that!

Glad that the puppy made your day! Too bad your allergies are such that you couldn't take her home. Next time you are sad, you will know what to do - pop a Benadryl and go to the pet store :)

More importantly, I really pray things will improve for you. I have been really down lately - a sort of melancholy - and I don't have the worries you have. Other people I have spoken to have said the same. There are bright, wonderful days ahead for all of us, so I will say a special prayer for you and I just know you will feel better soon. Love, E

Even spelled backwards God is still man's best friend.

Dogs take us the way they find us. If only all people would you would find your loving spirit reflected everywhere you went.
