 Favorite Love Thoughts
"Love one another but make not a bond of love:
Let it rather be a moving sea
between the shores of your souls...
Stand together, yet not too near together:
For the pillars of the temple stand apart,
and the oak tree and the cypress grow
not in each other's shadow..."

Kahlil Gibran

"Love is the child of freedom, never that of domination."

Erich Fromm
-----------------------
"I think, that while we think of death as the great enemy of life, death itself has a great enemy.  It is love.  Love, whether it is a great, single love that fills a heart an entire lifetime, or something that flashes into existence and burns like phosphorus for only an instant, is that thing that gives life its greatest joy and greatest meaning.  Love obliterates the fear of death by putting death into perspective, making it seem as nothing.  Love comes, and with it comes moments of joy and even ecstasy that transcends death.  It is not that death ceases to exist when one knows love.  It is that love so enriches life that death seems not to matter.  Perhaps it does not matter, for while death may seem to destroy love as it does all other aspects of our lives, in fact it does not, for there is something mysterious, magical, and eternal about love.  While the heart that gave body to the love may be gone, the love it contained, somehow, mysteriously, lives on.  A saying on a headstone in Ireland approaches this -- 'Death leaves a heartache no one can heal, love leaves a memory no one can steal.'  I would add that the memory love leaves is not an individual memory alone, but somehow is stored in the collective memory of all humanity, perhaps of all creation.  Somehow love gives meaning to all, in the face of all.  Even death.  Our deaths and the deaths of galaxies."

Mark --
I miss your words,
your friendship,
your encouraging way,
your brilliant mind,
your graceful heart
and your wonderful sense of humor.
For 22 days God graced my life with you,
the longing and empty space
inside my heart were no more.
DEAR FRIEND, YOUR ABSENCE GRIEVES ME

"It is not that death ceases to exist when one knows love. It is that love so enriches life that death seems not to matter"
These are beautiful writings.
