 Chicken Done Right
Yesterday I attended one of my favorite annual Summer events, the Manchester Chicken Broil.  Each year I eagerly look forward to attending as the chicken is totally scrumptious ... the best this girl has ever tasted.  I was introduced to this yummy event, many years ago, when my sister-in-law moved to Manchester.  The broil gatherings at her home, while lovely, at times contained a little to much "family drama" and stress for my taste.  As a free spirit I like to do my own thing and enjoy days that contain a laid back easy going ambience.

There are tables and chairs set up at the broil (on the football field) but most are in the hot sun, so my preferred dining place is a shady county park located about 10 minutes from town.  I'm familiar with the area as it's on the way to my parent's former lake house.  [I'm a person who doesn't like freeways and reaches her destinations via country roads whenever possible.]  This year I found a park right on the edge of town, which proved an admirable eating spot as well.

Sounds like fun. Community events like this are great. Tomorow is our annual community potluck picnic, it is a very small community. We have about 175 to 200 attend. It gives us a chance to reaquaint with neighbors we don't see often, except to wave as we pass each other going to or from somewhere on our winding mountain roads. I think I will make something with chicken.... maybe chicken enchiladas.

Fantastic.... I took a stroll into the link you added. Thank you for that, it really added to your description of it.
What a great event to attend. So long as you like Chicken, which I do, and you must :)

Sounds like fun. I love going to things like that. We had a shrimp festival nearby when I lived in Jacksonville and I loved it. Glad you had a good time.

I'm so glad you enjoyed. I'm with you on not liking the family drama or busy way of life. I'd join you at that park you found.

You seem to search for peace or carry it with you. I may seriously need a long trip to visit you. *smile*

Glad you got your chicken that was so good.

Speaking of Lake Houses, Im back in Sisters lakes! Drove here today with my youngest daughter Kate.

Im here today to rest my body, mind and soul.

After we took the dogs for a walk, Kate went inside to read and normally I start one of my many self made projects, like painting the wicker furniture, power washing, leaf blowing, weed pulling, seed spreading, dead heading etc.

We have a hammoch, yet I never lay in it, and we have floats and I never float in them, and we have a big swing and I never swing in it, and we have a screened in porch and all I usually do is clean it and when we have company, I make sure everyone relaxes and enjoys themselves...this is starting to sound like a post, so sorry I digressed...

We have had this place for 10 years and tonight was the first time I actually sat on the bench on our dock and watched the water and listened to the quiet and the lapping of the water against the boats and the calling of the birds to one another and the flopping of the fish as they pretended they were dolfins, just for the halibut

I had the dogs in my lap and felt so at peace. Why did it take me so long to do this?
