My days stormy and dark.
And then there you were --
bringing sunshine and a rainbow.
Your sweet, gentle spirit
and emotional availability
never a reality in my life, until your coming.
Your melodic voice as sweet as
the songs played on your guitar.

My conviction ... a life sentence
confined to a cold and lonely institution
prevented me from being yours.
You chose to honor my punishment,
seeing no grounds for appeal.

Our love, quickly professed
and quickly recanted.
A platonic (brother-sister)
friendship born, spanning many years.
Did you feel, as I, that NOT having each other,
in any capacity, was to much to bear.
