Summer Meditation
"Every relationship is a teaching-learning assignment. Anyone we are destined to meet, we will. We are drawn to each other for teaching and learning, as each of us is presented with the chance to learn the next lesson in the journey of our soul. Every encounter is a holy encounter if we use it to demonstrate love. And every encounter is a setup for possible pain if we're not open to the opportunity to do that. Anyone we meet we were destined to meet, but what we do with the relationship is entirely up to us." -- "The Gift of Change" Author: Marianne Williamson
While the winds of fate and destiny bring people into our lives, it's up to each of us to figure out the purpose of these "crossing of paths" encounters and work out the details. It surprises me how many people are totally unwilling to do this -- choosing instead to cast aside the gift of a potential friend/lover graciously bestowed by the universe. Hopefully the universe realizes the total impossibility of holding on once rejected and thrown to the curb and will reciprocate with yet another chance.
Summer Activity
Evenings, spent, five miles from home, at a neighborhood park. I found this personal sanctuary last summer and looked forward all winter to once again using the walking track, watching Little League games on the baseball diamonds and sitting quietly taking in the sounds and smells of nature. This summer I found a new park along the Detroit River, located in one of the downriver communities. A bit further from home, but well worth the drive. Spending time near water is extremely calming to me. I also realized that my spirit needs, every couple of weeks, a day in the country, so bi-weekly escapes from city life were a part of my summer routine as well.
Summer Lesson
The words --
You're the woman I have waited my whole life for
You're a one in a million girl
You're the answer to my prayers
Etc. Etc.
are called "sweet nothings" because they are words infused with sugar that mean absolutely nothing.
Summer Novel
Jodi Picoult's "My Sister's Keeper". While the novel was great I found the movie quite forgettable.
Summer Song
"A Song For You" -- Leon Russell.
Wishing everyone a warm and cozy Fall season.
Love & Peace --
