 Communism
So why do people think that communism is bad? I'm NOT saying that we should have an all out revolution or anything (US Government, don't use stupid clippings from this paragraph and send me to the clink because youre all arrogant pricks!!!) but seriously.People say "Communism doesnt work", well, not yet. The problem is that none of the dictatorships that we have seen people live under since now have been true communistic countries. It calls for basically ELIMINATION of government and PROPERTY so that everyone owns everything and no one dominates and everyone lives by MORALS not by laws. Well, the greedy little bastards don't want to give up their power, do they? NAH! I do truly believe that there can be sanctuary in the world as a whole (communism also cannot work in a "free market world because of competetive prices etc. etc.) as long as there are actually GOOD PEOPLE! See, that's the problem, nobody is acutally kind hearted anymore. No one really does things for others. Even acts of charity are indeed selfish (internal satisfaction...) and everyone is too reliable on what is theirs even though no one truly owns anything because this is the WORLD and humans aren't the only thing living on it. Think of the trees, the animals, the plants, the fish, etc. They own the rights to this world as much as we do, even more because of their lack of abuse for it. I'm not saying that we should all become primative, but we should learn to be more like the animals by sharing not being SO DAMN SELIFSH!!!! "Plots have I laid, inductions dangerous". Keep your neighbor in a light of charity for they own you as much as you own them.

Firstly, as you somewhat addressed, communism cannot, and never will work. Humanity does not have the capacity. Even if everyone does their part, there's always going to be that one shmuk that wants more than his due. And, how is it in anyway fair that a doctor make the same money and receive the same benefits as the guy who flips hamburgers? Secondly, human beings have always been selfish, there just wasn't as much media coverage back in the good ol' days, so you didn't see as much of the bad things that go on, and there are still good people in the world, who, despite every human beings natural urge to think of one's self first, do good things. Thanks once again to our friends at the newspapers and the television stations, though, you don't hear about it. Thirdly, what the hell does it mean that everyone is too reliable on what is theirs? Because being reliable on someone else really makes a lot of sense. Also, you might want to think about making a better break when you change topics. Just an idea. It's your blog. Just thought I'd pose these opinions and questions.

Great post. I like questions/topics like this. It's rare that someone that asks a question like this understands, as you do, that Marx said the state would "wither away." You're right that the only Marxist communism the world has seen has been practiced by totalitarian regimes.

Here's the truth about it: communism can't work as Marx envisioned it because people don't want to have to surrender their property, religious beliefs, and other personal choices just to have enough bread to feed themselves. What the hell kind of trade off is that? I've read the Communist Manifesto twice and Marx and Engels were clear that religion and property ownership had to be complete abolished for communism to take root.

Everyone has read Marx's famous quote about he resources would be shared: "From each according to his ability, to each according to his need." What is fair about expecting more from the people with the greatest ability but giving them less in return for their efforts? A doctor should get the same size apartment, the same amount of food, the same lousy car, and the same monthly check as a file clerk? That's really what Marx envisioned.

We are all better off having a chance to keep what we earn. Our consciences, at least some of the time, compel us to help (voluntarily) those less fortunate.

If someone were to propose a Marxist system of society and economics, I know that I wouldn't lift a finger to help. Why bother when I could just sit back and let others work for me?
