 The second church service
7/27/2008 Saturday

I can't believe how quickly the time has flown.  I basically have the weekend, then I am homeward bound.

I went to my first full church service.  Friday nights are the "service of power".  I was told it would be loud, but I assumed it would be like other Latin American services.  They are always louder than US services, but not unbearable.

If you have ever been to Latin America and been in a church service and thought it to be loud, I am here to tell you -- you ain't heard nothin' yet!  First, we worshipped with three singers, bongos, drums and a keyboard.  The two guitar players weren't there this time.  Just when I thought that praise and worship was finished after 45 minutes, Pastor Domingo got up and started to lead more worship for another 45 minutes.  Then he preached on Job 22:21-28 and gave an altar call.   The service began at 7:30 and I didn't get back to the hotel until 11:00.

Now, having said all of that, the worship was Spirit-led and Spirit-filled, as was the sermon.  I don't want anyone to get the impression that it wasn't a good thing because it was very good and very God-led.

This afternoon I am directing the lesson for the young people of the church.  Please be in prayer from about 4:00 until about 6:00.  I'll post again this evening to let you know how it went.
