Entry for April 23, 2008- Surgery Day
Well we have internet here in the waiting room, so i get to use my laptop. This is my blog for the day of Megans surgery, which i will continue to add to as the day progresses, and then megan can see it at a later date.

Its 9:30 am- they wheeled Megan into surgery at 9:00. So far the only problems we have had is what seems to be an incompetant nurse. He tried two times to put an IV in Megs right arm and failed at it...so after making that arm good and sore he switched to the left and finally got one in. It was hurting her pretty bad, which made me think mabye that one wasn't in right, but the Dr. came in and took a look and didn't say anything , so i am assuming it is fine.

I hated signing the papers that i knew the risks and what could happen during surgery. Its like signing your childs life away. From the risk of her heart stopping and they may have to use "paddles" to jump start her heart, to accidently "hitting" the REAL pacemaker in her heart that would cause her to have to have a mechanical one for the rest of her life, to the risk of death. How can a parent sign those without crying? God this is so hard. Now we wait 2-4 hours.

Megan has been in surgery for about 1 1/2 hours when the nurse called me and told me that they couldn't get to the spot they needed to through her legs, although they had tried so they have to go in through her neck. I was pretty upset but i knew they knew what they were doing. It makes me more scared and worried. I am thankful Scott is here to comfort me and help me get through this.

Dylen and Brittany have fallen asleep on 2 of the couches here in the waiting room. Brittany seems to have the flu and isn't feeling well at all. Ryan and Natalie are doing puzzles at the table. I think Ryan just want to be close to the vending machine..lol

Its 11:30 and they just called me to tell me that Megan is out of surgery and doing fine. She will be back in her room in about 10 minutes. YAEEEEEEE

Brittany has been waiting in Megs room waiting for them to wheel her in. Brittany is so sick i am worried about her. I am worried about ink poisoning since she gave herself 2 small tatoos on saturday with ink out of a pen. Her dad knew about it and let her do it! GRRRRRR. She said she feels like she has a horrible sunburn and a headache that won't quit. But she still is holding out and waiting for Megan. She went and bought her a guardian angel pin.

Megan is in the room sleeping. They gave her some valuum to help her settle down a bit. She was coming out of her sleep very restless , and they need her to lie still for 6 hours. plus she has no idea that they went in her neck too.

Dylen and Scott are going to head home to take care of the dog and things at home. They both came in to see Megan before they left. Dylen has been pretty concerned and has been a real trooper waiting with all of us since check in at 6:30. I got all the kids up at 4:30 this morning to head out at 5:15.

3:00- megan is up and eating some salad, so thats a plus. She has to keep her legs flat until 5:45 and then they will get her up to walk.

6:00 pm - they have megan up and walking but she is very light headed and dizzy. they said it will wear off by tomorrow. She just wants to go home and cried a couple times, begging me to go home.

6:15 - Well we are headed out of here finally. Megan is going to ride with her brother and Natalie since it will be more comfortable than the truck. Lets pray for a speedy recovery now!
