Feelings are feelings no matter what medium they are being displayed on. To believe otherwise is to show ignorance on a larger scale then one is capable of in most public situations.
That being said, an apology should never be seen as an act of humiliation, shame, or any other negative emotion, but rather as an admission to your wrong-doing and a display of your acknowledgment of what you have done. Apologizing takes courage, but admitting you are wrong takes more.
It sounds like you were trying to do that on the post until it came down to the comments. You shouldn't feel bad because other people think you're weird for apologizing because you hurt someones feelings from a different state, and those of you trying to make her feel this way should be ashamed of yourselves. Feelings are feelings. I'd have to say this says a lot about these people.
It's good your apologizing though, and I am sorry you feel bad. I hope everything works out for you.

Things sometimes are what they are, even if we don't want them to be. Betrayal is the lowest a person can put themselves in society, no longer able to be trusted by those around them. Time heals all wounds, but the scars remain. Never forget.

Whenever you make a new post, it appears on the "Recent Posts" section and people often browse through those and pick the ones with decent titles to read. That, and commenting other peoples blogs are good ways to get views. Also, you should introduce yourself on the forums if you haven't already.

I used to speak with people all of the time where English wasn't their first language, and you are pretty good. I know they like to hear that. :)
Anyways, people always get views. You have eight already as of this comment. People often open up the "Recent Posts" section and just start reading. Don't feel discouraged if people don't, though. I found it interesting.

I had an ingenious idea today. Perhaps it is just my carefree youth talking, but hey, it doesn't have to be me to do it.
Someone can start a donation service where random people can donate to a cause - in this case, paying to go over to Maryland to kick the spouses ass. We could use PayPal! :)

There is not all that much you can do, really, except be there for her. She's grieving, "it's a process". She will cry and she will hurt, but you have to stay strong for her and help her cope with it in the best way you can. Time heals all wounds.
