background info
Let me begin by giving you some information about myself, my name is Chad, I am 15 years old and live in Yakima Washington. I was born with Congenital heart defects. My diagnosis was ASD VSD right ventricle double outlet. which means that my heart had some "unique features". when i was eighteen weeks old I had closed heart surgery to fix my pulmonary artery because it was leaking. there was nothing wrong until i was two and a half. Then doctors discovered that i had two holes in my heart. The surgeons were not sure that they could even do the surgery because results from my ultrasound showed that there were many small holes in my heart that they felt could not be fixed.
now
now i am just a fifteen year old kid. I am the Sophomore Boys Social class officer at my school. i run cross country, snowboard, and play tennis, although my heart has been fixed I am still affected today, During athletic activities i get tired faster then other kids and i need longer rest intervals to stay from getting my heart beating to fast. things i like to do are hang out with all of my friends and just do regular teenage stuff.
What i am trying to do
Living with CHD (congenital heart defects) you think of many things like "why me?" what did i do to deserve this?" What i want to do is be able to reach out to kids who were born with CHD give them reassurance and inspiration. I want to turn there negative energy around let them know that being born with CHD isn't such a bad thing because we are very unique individuals.
