| I talked to him yesterday

I told my fiance that I need to KNOW for sure that does love me before I marry him next year. I told him that I yearn for him to show me his love. That I need to know.
He said he loves me and understands what I mean and that he will try to be more expressive. I said I don't want him to show what he doesn't feel...so I asked him to think deeply about his feelings for me and if he simply does not have the same feelings for me, to please let me know and to let me go. I would understand. Love can't be imposed.
I don't know how I ended up being engaged to a guy like him. I remember that at first, I found him rude and a little bit cold hearted. I knew we were too different. But somehow one date lead to another and another...and as time went by, he became very sweet and I fell in love with him.
Still, he's the opposite of what I was looking for. He has a good heart and has come a long way...but he's selfish and detached. He's very independent and I'm not. Still I love him, I just wish he would be a little more 'soft' hearted if that makes any sense.
Anyway, we'll see what happens. I want nothing more than to live my life with him...but I won't do it if I have doubts.
We are running out of time. We need to start planning our wedding this summer (now!) and I told him it's hard for me to be excited when I have so many doubts about the way he feels. Saying he loves me doesn't cut it for marriage. I feel trapped and frustrated.
At least I got it off my chest.
Not sure if any of it got through to him. I suppose only time will tell...but I don't have much time.

Way to go! Very wise to make sure you know where he stands before you tie the knot. Hopefully he'll give you a full-blown, honest breakdown of how he feels and what he can give you. You deserve to know that before going any further.

maybe he DOES express his love, but not the way you need him to. tell him what would make you feel better...don't expect him to know what you need. guys are dumb. haha

An engagement may make the idea of how his life is going to change a lot more real to him. He might be facing what he sees to be a loss of freedom (does he see this as a drawback or is he fully embracing this idea?)

hi movingmatter. My bf is definitely embracing the idea of marriage. He can't wait to marry me. He tells me all the time.
I suppose only time will tell. They say that everything works out in the end, and if it hasn't worked out, then it's not the end...or something like that.
