The NBA is Now Like Soccer: Please Stop This Trend
The Suns lost to the Spurs.  I hate the Spurs, and not because they are really good, but without a doubt that they.  They've won 4 NBA championships in the recent past.  For that reason, I usually respect teams.  But I hate the Spurs because of how they act on the court.  Thye bring a very foreign soccer attitude to the NBA.  By that I mean that they flop all the time, and when they aren't flopping, they are complaining about any, and every call that happens in the game.  I understand arguing some calls that might seem like bad calls, but the Spurs complain in large fashion, with large hand movements and facial expressions of disgust and disbelief at every call.  Not only that, but the officials allow them to flop by giving them those calls.

It's unbelievable to me how the officials have not watched tape and said, "Oh shit, the Spurs are going to flop, and attempt to get every call.  They are going to throw their bodies whenever they get touched.  And as officials, we are going to give them those calls."  I've lost so much respect for the NBa over the past few days because of watching the first round.  The officials are having a lot of trouble getting calls correct, the players aren't helping them by flopping.  No only that, but it seems that the Spurs, even when they are not flopping, get every call that includes any contact, but it incidential or not.  Every drive, it seems like any body contact will draw a blocking call against the Suns.  I don't think I can say this any better.  THIS IS THE NBA, please allow them to play basketball.  This is not European soccer or your moms cheerleading competition, this is grown men's basketball.  Let the players play the game, and allow them to have some contact, especially if the offensive player is initiating it.

I thought I would post this one first, because this is the reason I decided to create this blog.  I was so fed up with not having an outlet to vent my frustration.  It seems that none of the announcers ever comment on the calls, nor do any sports analysists ever mention this.  Seriously, grow some balls and get out of the strangle hold of the NBA, and all sports really.  You have to be able to be honest about the officiating.  I understand it's a difficult job, but why are we able to rip the coaches, the players, and GM's, but the officials are offlimits.  I wish I was an announcer because I would speak the truth, I wouldn't "try to uphold the sancity of the game", and not attack the officlas.  I know it is probably difficult to get officials, and would be moreso if we coudl criticize them, but I don't see any other reason not to allow this criticizm to take place.   The only other argument I can think about that would be to not criticize would be that it would show that the game wasn't won by the team, but decided by the officials, and that might hurt the game, or lastly, that if criticism is allowed, it would hurt the legitimacy of officials, and then players would not respect them, or fans would not respect them.  All of these arguments are bad.  Officials need to do a better job, and players need to help them out by not flopping.  Seriously, if you want to flop, go play soccer, and leave the basketball to the men.  Thanks.  That's all.
